to be miffed about this ebay negative review?

I'm downsizing DD's wardrobe and putting the nicer aka unstained bits on ebay.

I don't usually iron, but am ironing the pieces before I send them out so they don't look like they have been eaten mangled generally sat on left messy.

I sent out one lovely cottony-jersey dress, ironed and folded neatly into a Jiffy bag. The lady who received it gave a bag review, saying that 'the dress was fine, but had clearly not been ironed'.

Call me crazy, but it is likely to get a little crumpled in transit, and maybe she should allow for this? Did she have to trounce my 100% positive record for a few creases?

Am a bit hormonal, next time I think I will pop a picture of me ironing said item in the envelope with the item, and maybe a date stamp........

If she has left you a negative based on that, you can get it removed for being an unfair neg.

HowFuckingRude · 19/02/2011 14:02

Did she give you a negative or neutral? If not and it was a positive feedback witha stupid comment then do a follow up to the comment and move on.

LifeIsButtercream · 19/02/2011 14:02

Ooh - how can I do that? Am a bit of an ebay newbie!

OP posts:
LifeIsButtercream · 19/02/2011 14:04

It was a full-on negative Sad

Contact ebay customer support, there is an option to chat online to them somewhere and they are very helpful.

Sellers rely on good feedback and a neg can be very damaging, especially if you are a newbie.

Leaving a neg for something so ridiculous is usually classed as unfair and ebay will remove it.

peeriebear · 19/02/2011 14:06

That's very unfair. She wasn't going to pull it out of a jiffy bag smooth and unlined was she!? Twat. Pretty sure you can get it removed.

breatheslowly · 19/02/2011 14:07

YANBU, surely she will wash and iron it anyway.

saffy85 · 19/02/2011 14:08

YANBU that is unfair. Personally I don't care is clothing I've bought on ebay is unironed. It's second hand. I just want it to turn up in a decent amount of time and be in a good, clean condition. This person is barmy and has standards waaaay to high to be using ebay to buy secondhand clothes.

BTW would I be totally unreasonable to leave non-positive feedback for the 6 babygrows I received today, which were not 0-3 months as stated but 3-6 and 9-12 months?

roadtrain · 19/02/2011 14:10

Don't think you will be able to get it removed. You need 1000+ feedbacks to be eligible I think.

But I would post a follow up comment which will appear with the feedback saying something like:

"I ironed this item, unfortunately it must have been creased in the post"

However, she is a nasty so and so for leaving you negative feedback for a dress which she likes which was creased - FFS is she never going to wash or iron it herself?

Put her on your blocked bidder list.

You get really horrible people on eBay sometimes.

However, next time, I would advise you to put in the listing - "this item is clean but has not been ironed" so that nobody can moan about it again.

I don't iron clothes I sell and I state that they are clean but not ironed.

HowFuckingRude · 19/02/2011 14:10

If it was a negative then I'd contact the seller and ask for a mutual withdrawal as clearly she has gone OTT.

You can do a follow-up to feeback via My eBay then click on Feedback - there should be something like "reply to feedback left".

Whatever you do leave a calm, factual comment. Anything rude or abusive will be removed by eBay.

thumbwitch · 19/02/2011 14:11

Op - YANBU and if you can get it changed for being unfair, I would, because that buyer is barking.

Saffy - YOU would be reasonable to leave negative feedback because the goods are not as described! You have been sold something with a misleading description. How very annoying! Although at least you will be able to use them later.

HowFuckingRude · 19/02/2011 14:12

You should contact the seller first with your issue as they may decide to refund you. Always give the seller a chance to rectify a mistake.

Then if you get no joy, neg the fuck out of them :)

StealthPolarBear · 19/02/2011 14:13
Shock I wouldn't dream of ironing anything I sell on ebay. Will now put that in the description, thanks!
LifeIsButtercream · 19/02/2011 14:14

I might add an arsey comment response, along the lines of:

"Dear ........, I do apologise for the creases that have occurred on your item, if you let me know the exact number of creases I will flog myself accordingly this very afternoon. I will be sure to remember next time you win an auction from me to walk the 657miles to your house, bearing the item which I will be very careful to iron and then laminate to prevent future creases. And for your reassurance - if you believe the creases to have been caused by the Postal Service in transit, please inform me, and next time I see my postman, I shall kill him"

........... is that civil enough? Wink

nope, definately not true. I had one removed for a similar reason, and I have less than 300.

eden263 · 19/02/2011 14:15

YANBU, what a cow. I've had stuff allegedly 'in very good condition' turn up stinking of smoke, dirty, marked, with food on etc. Even then I've not left neg feedback. Most things can be sorted with a good wash.

Report her & get it removed, then add her to your blocked bidders to avoid her ever buying anything from you again.

Saffy, at least they're too big, better than too small! But still frustrating & poor on the seller's part. What has she said about it?

saffy85 · 19/02/2011 14:25

Thanks guys gonna email the seller first and ask for a refund aleast for the £4 delivery charge!

I'm just annoyed because I decided to get a few second cheap bits on ebay now as we don't know the sex (most neutral baby things are boring imo) and then buy the "nice" stuff when it's born and we know whether it's a boy or a girl. Aleast they wint be wasted as they'll fit baby soon enough but still I was seething this morning! (hormonal and full of cold to boot)

OP I still think this lady who bought your dress is deranged. Her ebay name isn't Hyacinth Bucket is it? Wink

YANBU.

I had a negative feedback left for me as the person said he didn't recieve the item even though I had told him I have proof of postage and it was over xmas when all the snow and ice was around and post was severly delayed.

I only have just over 100 feedbacks and ebay removed his for me and barred him from leaving me anymore. I would have thought they will take that comment off, stupid woman! (The woman you sent it to, not you OP, Smile).

HowFuckingRude · 19/02/2011 14:58

There's a small chance the neg was left in error.

eBay changed the feedback system a while ago and it no longer asks you if you are "sure" before leaving negative feedback.

I accidentally left a neg because I thought I'd tabbed down to leave a comment. What I'd actually done was tab along from the positive to the negative click button.

I realised what I'd done after it was too late and contacted eBay to get it changed. I then found out it was happening quite a lot on eBay.amYour buyer might have done exactly the smae thing - I would email and ask her if she actually meant to leave a negative
