to wonder how much income a couple realistically must have to be able to afford private education?

Maybe I'm just being nosey, but when I see other peoples DC being driven to sch in big Land Rovers by very yummy mummies, clearly not on their way to work themselves..I do often wonder, just how flipping rich are you? We have a joint income of 84K and couldn't contimplate it. Just how much do you have to earn to afford private school (for 2 kids)..wishful thinking!!

Or work for a firm that pays for your school fees.

That's the situation for a lot of the kids at DSs school. They get their (very generously sized) accommodation paid (and rent out their own homes, so double bonanza there), get their school fees paid, travel home a number of times a year... some even get their nannies paid for.

And the 'idlewives' still bitch about the price of things (mainly crap at Harrods, or their 'help').

Jealous... me???

Ex pat packages are often very generous.

Paricularly in countries that are..ahem...unpopular. But then one does have to live there, so quid pro quo.

Depends where you live. The only private school round my way which has slightly better GCSE results than my DD's state school charges £7000 a term day fees. I think any local person would have to be a bit mad to consider it. We have an income of £150000 plus and would rather not spend such a chunk on school fees.

We are in South bKensington, so hardly Beruit!

MUST stop reading these threads! 80K, 90K, 100K incomes?! I inhabit a different planet!

£150 a week left after all bills.....tight but could be done.

Er...sorry but that's far from tight.

I thought the same. I would love it if I had £150 per month left after the bills Blush
