I have a bag of leg quarters and they spoiled. AIBU to bake them and then feed them to the cat?

cats eat anything they find out of dustbins, so dont see why not.. so long as you can stand the smell... and be prepared for them possibly having the shits

winnybella · 17/02/2011 20:53

I wouldn't.
And, tbh, my cats refuse to eat any food that's been in their bowls for longer than few hours.

Cats are more sensible than people give them credit for. Go ahead, I'd be surprised if they eat them though.

I had some chicken a day past its sellby date and it smelt fine, I cooked it for DH and I but gave DD chicken nuggets. I chopped up DD's portion and gave it to the cats (who love chicken). They wouldn't touch it.

We all had chicken nuggets. With tomato sauce Grin

My cat pretends to be starving too but every dinner I give her is "wrong" so she goes for ages without eating then scoffs everything in sight.

DerangedSibyl · 17/02/2011 22:29

She won't eat it if it's spoiled. DOGS will, cats won't.

igetmorelovefromthecat · 17/02/2011 23:53

Dogs certainly will.

I remember when my dog was a pup and I got sent a free sample of Caesar dog food - it was a new posh range and it was meant to be Chicken Fricassee if I remember correctly.

He sniffed it, turned his nose up at it, then went outside and ate a dead vole that had been on the pathway for weeks.

auntyfash · 17/02/2011 23:57

No way would I feed my cats food that has gone off! It could make them ill if they ate it. Why risk it? Catfood isn't that expensive, and neither is chicken. Why put your cat at risk?

LessNarkyPuffin · 18/02/2011 00:03

Don't you like it?

issey6cats · 18/02/2011 00:08

chicken that is spoilt will be full of food spoilage bacteria and if you fancy a trip to the vets with an ill cat and a vets bill of around £40-£60 a puking and pooing for england cat then go ahead, if you dont then lob the chicken in the bin, cat probably wont eat it anyway so save the fuel bill too
