There have been a couple of threads lately about competitive parenting which I know is annoying and ridiculous. But I do think some of the ridiculousness comes from parents wanting to share their genuine love and pride for their DCs with other people, they just go about it in the wrong way. It is lovely sometimes to hear a nice thing said about your DC or to just be able to share a nice story about them and their wonderfulness.

So, you are cordially invited to come on this thread and brag shamelessly about your DCs lovely manners, great spelling, amazing talking, magnificent poos or spectacular bogeys Grin No judging allowed. This is only in AIBU to get the traffic. Yes I am bad.

So, I'll begin. My DS is only 7 weeks so not a huge amount to brag about, only the fact that he is extremely cute, has gorgeous sticky up hair, is very alert for his age and has a beautiful smile :)

Ah i do love the spikey upy hair :) well mine are two beautiful wild little boys who could demolish a room in the blink of an eye but give the best most squishy cuddles in the world ever and they are wonderful! And of course you are not being unreasonable!!

JamieLeeCurtis · 17/02/2011 17:46

Aaaw

DS2 made a Valentines card for me, DH and DS1 and it said "You mean everything to me" (he's 7). That was lovely enough, but it brought tears to DS1s eyes (he's 10) and we all had a group hug.

(normally DS1 will tell anyone who'll listen that DS2 is a 2pain in the butt")

oldraver · 17/02/2011 17:47

My DS (s) are gorgeous, and funny and cuddly and cute...even the big one

WriterofDreams · 17/02/2011 17:47

Oh lord Jamie you've made me cry, that is so lovely!! How nice of DS1 to be touched, so many boys would take the piss out of a gesture like that - such a lovely memory, write it down so you don't forget it [grin}

OP posts:
WriterofDreams · 17/02/2011 17:48

That should be Grin of course

Thankyou Writer - he's not got a lot of bravado to him, he's actually quite sensitive, but it always surprises him that DS2 actually likes him. He thinks he was put on this earth to annoy him! (they get on very well most of the time)

rickymummy · 17/02/2011 17:57

Ah, lovely thread.

I have two completely gorgeous boys. Well behaved, bright, friendly. I am a very proud Mummy.

Katey1010 · 17/02/2011 17:57

My 10 week old has the spikey hair. People think we do it to her! She is also terribly advanced (according to DH) and gives the most beautiful smiles. She also smells better than anything in the world.

chandellina · 17/02/2011 18:06

my 2.5 year old who "failed" his 8 month check on speech and could barely say ba-ba at one year has somehow developed an amazingly good vocabulary and near-perfect grammar, and it was a surprising piece of cake to potty train him recently. YAY!!!

WriterofDreams · 17/02/2011 18:09

Good for your DS chandelina, and nice reassuring story for mums who might be a bit worried about their DC's speech.

A friend of mine at school didn't say a single word until she was nearly 3 when she came out with an entire grammatical sentence, something to the effect of "Can I bring my bucket to the beach please" I believe. Parents nearly died of fright. Spoke perfectly from then on and was a very intelligent girl.

My DS has just turned one and is pretty much walking all the time now. It makes me so proud to see him trotting up the garden path or walking up the hallway :)

buttonmooncup · 17/02/2011 18:21

My DD is 3 and really bright. She can read and she talks as well as me. And she can count to 100 well probably more cos it's just the same numbers again after that.
I would never tell anyone this in rl because it looks like boasting (well it is!) and am quite embarrassed if people comment about it but I have no problems mentioning the things she can't do so well such as motor skill type things. Thankyou for giving me an outlet for my boasting!

StarlightPrincess · 17/02/2011 18:33

My son's hair is amazing. Check it out on my profile if you don't believe me!

nd my daughter's eyes are the most beautiful shade of sea blue! Grin

whiskersonkittens · 17/02/2011 18:35

YADNBU Grin

My dd is sensitive, bright, noisy and gorgeous; according to her teacher fab at science (level 5A in Yr5), loves art, useless at maths. Oh and she talks all the time

My ds is the strong silent type, has the most wonderful, strokeable red hair, knows just when I need a hug and always seems pleased to see me. Hates reading and writing but can do his sister's maths homework in 5 mins

They mean the world to me

RustyBear · 17/02/2011 18:39

I did start a thread of my own about this one, but it deserves being put on here too - it's DD's 21st birthday today and she sent me some beautiful roses to thank me & DH for everything we'd done for her.

Hulababy · 17/02/2011 18:41

My DD (on my profile) is 8y, will be 9 in April, and is just so lovely. Despite already being at the very first onsets of pubertywe have no tantrums, no strops, it is rare for her to get cross or grumpy and she is just an absolute pleasure for us to spend time with. She is happy and friendly and well liked with her school peers, and her teachers have all said she is a delight. She tried hard and gives anything ago, scared of nothing really.

Her latest challenge is to work towards her first climbing award, which she started working on this evening.

Hulababy · 17/02/2011 18:42

Rustybear - how lovely of her, such a great gesture!

Reading about the spiky baby hir, first steps and learning to talk - takes me back a few years :)

shakey1500 · 17/02/2011 18:50

Ahhh these are lovely.

Ok, my 3 year old boy is (seemingly) very intelligent. He could name every make of car at the age of 2. He can count up to a 1000, has been reading since Christmas. When the teachers said he was very interested in letters I suggested to him he might like to spell them a word like "cat" to which I got the reply "No Mummy, I will spell violin..."

He sounds precocious but really isn't. I am especially proud because I am not a natural mother AT ALL, hadn't a clue when he was born,I struggled tremendously, have winged it all the way and despite me being worse than useless at times he is happy, healthy, loving and bright. He was also a breeze to potty train.

Thanks for giving me the chance to brag! On the flip side he isn't so great at physical stuff, can't kick a ball to save his life!

lucyintheskywithdinos · 17/02/2011 19:00

My DD1 is fabulous! She's intense, challenging and has totally changed our lives for the better. She has just started writing (autonomously educated and 4yo) and has a passion for Victorian and Edwardian Farm.

DD2 is sunshine. She is more like me in her love of getting muddy in the garden. When you tickle her, the giggle melts me! She also loves showing off her prtend grumpy face because it makes everyone laugh.

Chrispo · 17/02/2011 19:07

This thread has made me smile and want to cry at the same time. I have an amazing bunch of mummy friends who are all very proud of their little ones so we feel happy to moan and boast about our babies! Ok onto my 8 month old DD, she is the best thing that has ever happened to me and I am soooo.... glad now that I got made redundant 3 weeks into my maternity leave because I would have been going back in a couple of weeks. DD waved and said bye bye for the first time the other day in a supermarket but now refuses to say it againConfusedShe is amazing and is my world Smile

pommedeterre · 17/02/2011 19:08

Last week I would have posted that 10.5 month dd is the bestest baby that has ever existed ever. Just so enchanting.

This week however she is actually devil baby so I can only boast in retrospect.

ragged · 17/02/2011 19:10

I started a boasting thread, already, but I'll update it a bit... 2 DC in X-country races, one came 8th out of 32 and the other came 3rd out of about 45. I am chuffed to bits. :).

ThePosieParker · 17/02/2011 19:14

DS1 is very good looking and models, is in a profession production of evita, he's only eight. Everyone that meets him says he's wonderful and really funny (saves that for outside the home!!)

DS2 is very very bright and handsome, he's also hard working and has had things said about him by other parents that are too nice even for this thread....oh okay then, it's been said by five/six people that he's one of l;ife's lovely people...polite, kind, without agenda....he wants to be a zoologist and has done since he was 3!! (he's seven)

DD is beautiful. She's reading and starts school next September.

DS3 is the most independent two year old, funny and full of charisma!

All can be truly kind, all think I'm wonderful and the most beautiful Mummy ever...nice to see that blinkered bias works both ways!!

alexandra65 · 17/02/2011 19:20

DS7 isnt that intelligent and isnt very good at football but is the happiest, loveliest and most affectionate boy in the world.

DS17 is pretty damn good for a teenager Wink

ThePosieParker · 17/02/2011 19:24

alexandra....I was going to prefix each child with a moan at the beginning but I deleted.....now post just to boast!!
