Ok, I kinda think I'm not BU, but several people have told me I am!

My DD will be 2 in a few months, I have bought her a little pram for her dolls, that I know she will love, but money is very tight and I can't really afford anything else, can't even afford to do a party.

Over most of the last year I've snapped up clothes in the sales and charity shops, in size 2-3. DD is into dressing up at the moment, and I was thinking of taking a few of the really pretty dresses/outfits and wrapping them for her to open as presents. Kinda to 'bulk up' what she has to open.

Several friends and family have told me that she won't appreciate clothes as presents, they won't 'be presents' to her, and one even went as far as to say she would be dissapointed to open clothes as presents.

AIBU to think "she'll be two, she won't think about things like that"? Confused

Can you sew/knit?? If so what about making some bedding for the pram??

Even my males @ 2 years old were happy to open new clothes - particularly t-shirts with had pictures of their fav characters on.

YANBU. I often gave my DS1 & DS2 clothes that I'd have bought anyway as extra presents and they never minded or complained, they just liked having stuff to unwrap! And if DD is into dressing up, then clothes are totally appropriate. Let her pick one of the 'special' outfits to wear all day, and change into a different one for tea.

Jeez, what is wrong with people these days?!

YANBU. Doesn't everyone do this? Some extra presents of stuff you would have had to have bought anyway, and which they will like, and enjoy unwrapping. What's not to like?

I bought my DD a toothbrush and a tube of toothpaste for her first Christmas... and nothing else. We have lots of photo's of her on Christmas day holding her new toothbrush proudly. And whilst I don't expect this to last for ever :o, take advantage whilst you can I say!
