Or do soap babies seem to dwell in a cot somewhere out of sight and mind, this is across board for all of them.

I know its adult centred , but who looks after these kids, or the tv is on loud whilst a child is stashed away. doesnt sit right with me sets a bad example tbh, its worrying as some people convey this approach to parenting.

I apologise wierd rant

it would be too difficult to have real baby behaviour on screen all the time, the plot would never get anywhere. i think we ar ebetter off using dolls

Kerrianne · 16/02/2011 12:25

You're right about weird lol

Surely you don't think they should be permenantly on the hip and written in to every story line?

lospolloshermanos · 16/02/2011 12:28

No I just mean they are never shown as sat playing or anything.

It's because baby's are a bit dull and rubbish at learning lines.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 16/02/2011 12:33

I took all my parenting advice from the Brave and the Beautiful. Twas the only soap available to me in the ME.

Ha Ha I remember Nick Tilsley being in a playpen almost until he started school, used to amuse me.
I also like the way the baby , who is apparently screaming , never moves.

It isn't real life, you do know that dont you? Wink

Having a baby on set is too difficult, if it is not essential to the action. When I have seen babies, lots of times they are babbling away or seem to be reaching out to someone off screen - presumably a parent. Also soaps tend to have lots of screaming and shouting. I think we would all be complaining if babies were regularly on screen when this was happening - after all the baby doesn't know it is pretend.

There are also strict rules about the number of hours young children can work

But I do know what you mean when you say how unrealistic this is.

Squitten · 16/02/2011 12:46

There are really strict laws over babies on screen. I think little ones can only be on set for 15mins at a time - that's why they always use twins
