I'm not a massively religious person - more of a high days and holidays person really, but I do the lent thing.

Last year I gave up Alcohol, Chocolate, Bread, Cheese and Facebook. The most miserable 40 days of my little life so far...

Let's not start a rant about religion - but what will you be giving up?

Shabby - I work for two charities already so feeling pretty charitable already.

I plan to give up alcohol, bready/pasta type carbs, fags, chocolate and sugar in my tea...

curlymama, good luck with it! You could always eat a veggie burger when you're out.

Have a look at this site: Viva for inspiration.

Good luck!!! :)

I plan on giving up cigs. I am hoping that if I tell myself its not forever and only a short time, I can do it. And hopefully not want to smoke again after.

*"I'm an Atheist so doing anything for anybody is a no no.".

That statement makes no sense at all, FabbyChic.

Were you joking? Confused

My neighbour is a policeman - so I will probably swerve away from coveting his wife!

I'm an atheist, but do sometimes give stuff up at this time as it seems convenient.
Like giving presents, 25th Dec is as good a time as any, right?
And I find choccy eggs go down quite well on some randomly decided Sunday in April.

Anyway, last year I gave up alcohol. I might do so again, it's not a great sacrifice as I don't drink much.

Chocolate I did once, never again, it was honestly harder than giving up smoking.

Am tempted to give up Mumsnet, actually - I don't post much but do waste an awful lot of time reading.

as usual, i will be making a concerted effort to be nicer to people.

Men. Won't be difficult at all, sadly. :( :(
