had a change of circumstances which means we will get less money, called them last week to tell them about it, only to be told we have to fill in one of their long winded forms, which they would send out to us. in the meantime they have stopped my payment (fair enough, to avoid any overpayment)

received it today. spent an hour filling it out. an HOUR, i shit you not.

posted it late this afternoon and then suddenly had a HORRIBLE realisation i forgot to get DH to sign his bit.

have already rang to ask for new forms, which means another week or so before we get them, (at least, in my experience) which means at least another week with NO MONEY from tax credits. it usually takes at least a month for them to get their act together and process a claim anyway which means 5 weeks where i have nothing coming in :(

we rely on it, i know we shouldn't but we do, it pays for our food basically. we are already in rent arrears of about £700 (long story)

i'm sick of being skint. we just got married and rather than enjoying the newly married period we are stressing about lack of money. :(

god i am such a twat not checking dh had signed it Angry he is in the kitchen cooking me a lovely valentines meal and i am sat on here almost crying with worry and annoyance.

Is there ANY way you could ring the helpline thing and explain? Could they return your completed forms for the signature? Maybe not, but is it worth asking?

How frustrating for you!

FabbyChic · 14/02/2011 19:35

They will send your forms back.

sjm123 · 14/02/2011 19:37

You can ask them to let your DH sign over the phone once they get them.

All they do is go through the major points wanting confirmation, and ask you to declare all is correct at the end :)

I've done it myself, and what's worse is I was the only one who needed to sign the bloody thing anyway Blush

why couldn't you update over the phone or on-line? I always have.

strawberrylion · 14/02/2011 20:13

I wish they'd stopped my payments, I told them about my change in circumstances and was told I'd have to wait until April for it to be reviewed...when I guess I'll get a big overpayment bill Sad

OnceHomeless · 14/02/2011 20:16

You might be okay. I sent them an unsigned form once and they just rang me and asked me to confirm that the claim was mine and confirm some of the info on the form.

superv1xen · 15/02/2011 09:13

thanks for the advice...i really really hope it will be ok :(

thats good news that some of you have been able to "sign" over the phone.

i just know from previous experience how bloody slow and incompetent they are - apart from when they want over payments repayed LOL

sorry to hear about your overpayment strawberrylion and i hope its not too painful to pay back :(
