Just found out that large retail chaines, i.e Tesco, boots do not give you reward points if you buy formula milk.

Apprarantly its because they think it is un ethical? and want to promote Breast is best

OhForBoonessSake · 14/02/2011 14:50

because you are taking it as a personal judgement on you ratehr than what it actually is.

VanityRocks · 14/02/2011 14:51

Oh and YABUSmile

MrSpoc · 14/02/2011 14:54

VanityRocks, as you can guess, i really dont care if my spelling is off as long as people can read it and understand it. But thank you for being a little concerned.

OhForBoonessSake - because it is a personal judgement for ever person who chooses to buy this type of product as well as cigs, alcohol and lottery tickets.

It is the goverment telling us we are not able to make the right choices for ourselves.

Eglu · 14/02/2011 14:55

I think I give up now. Some people really can't see that they are wrong.

A slap in the face for failing to bf, what a crock of shit!!

quitescared · 14/02/2011 14:55

Am having a crap day, and the idea of 'nork scanning' has brought me a much needed smile! Smile

ThePosieParker · 14/02/2011 14:57

Why should you get bonus points for buying formula?

OhForBoonessSake · 14/02/2011 14:58

"It is the goverment telling us we are not able to make the right choices for ourselves."

really? so it isn't based on any research that has been carried out or anything then?

MrSpoc · 14/02/2011 15:00

its not bonus points. it is its a loyalty scheme for shopping at thier premises. not for buying a particular product.

As i said before, yes it is illegal but it does not make it right.

all this does is give the impression of:

bf = good
FF = Bad

When there are many reasons why people FF and should not be made to feel bad about it.

OP posts:
OhForBoonessSake · 14/02/2011 15:00

and BTW, the government isn't removing formula from the shelves, like you are implying. they are simply not rewarding you for buying it.

JamieLeeCurtis · 14/02/2011 15:01

YABU. (I ff as well). Your wife has no reason to feel guilty, nor should she interpret this as an attempt to make her feel guilty

VanityRocks · 14/02/2011 15:01

MrSpoc-you're not very bright are you?

MrSpoc · 14/02/2011 15:02

OhForBoonessSake - as i said before, i understand BF is best and would always choose that over FF but there are times when this is not practical. Cannot do it etc.

Why should people feel bad about it? it does not matter about all the research to go with it when you cannot do it.

OP posts:
caughtinanet · 14/02/2011 15:03

mrspoc - why don't you shop at Morrisons or any other chain that doesn't give loyalty point and then you won't be penalised as you won't get any bonus at all.

Be thankful for what you get rather than complaining about the tiny number of things you don't get them for.

MrSpoc · 14/02/2011 15:03

What makes you think that VanityRocks? what is it like tyo sit so high on your horse?

OP posts:
ShirleyKnot · 14/02/2011 15:04

hahaha
the end

Eglu · 14/02/2011 15:04

If people feel bad about ff for not getting loyalty points that says a lot more about their state of mind that anything else.

I felt guilt at not coping with bf DS1, but I didn't think that Tesco/Gov't/Whoever were doing their best to make me feel worse about it because of the lack of points.

JamieLeeCurtis · 14/02/2011 15:05

Vanity - I don't think that was called for, actually

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 14/02/2011 15:05

I didn't feel bad about FF. It was necessary. It didn't bother me that I didn't get loyalty points or discounts. I certainly didn't feel that I was being judged by anyone .

Don't careGrin

OhForBoonessSake · 14/02/2011 15:09

"it is its a loyalty scheme for shopping at thier premises. not for buying a particular product. "

ok so lets say tesco offer points on their formula, but decide only to stock one brand (call it brand X)

and what if that one brand isn't what is best suited to 3/10 babies but the parents cant justify going to another shop and buying brand Y because they wont get points?

JamieLeeCurtis · 14/02/2011 15:10

Oooh good argument Boone

MrSpoc · 14/02/2011 15:13

LadyintheRadiator to answer the question, again. because they offer the points on every product except a select few that the goverment has deemed unethical to promote, reward etc.

OP posts:
VanityRocks · 14/02/2011 15:14

Write to your MP then MrSpoc.Do something about it.

MrSpoc · 14/02/2011 15:14

OhForBoonessSake they already do that for a number of other products, so this would not be a problem. it will then be up to the customer to go else where or buy that product.
