Thought I'd try them as had heard on MN that they were good.

Disgusting. Really salty and like eating a soggy sponge. It stuck to the roof of my mouth.

Yuck.

Shock YABVU. I don't understand why anyone else makes crumpets. Though having said that, haven't tried Waitrose and we also toast twice.

readywithwellies · 13/02/2011 19:08

Aldi's are the best and I have probably tasted every brand going. Yum Yum

Maud2011 · 13/02/2011 19:34

As someone has already said it comes down to individual taste (which doesn't necessarily involve reason) but IMO YANBU... I think they are extremely stodgy and I always toast them for a very long time!

Asteria · 13/02/2011 19:42

What? Shock You mean to say that you don't make them from scratch on a griddle that was passed down through your family? Wink

itssnotfunny · 13/02/2011 19:47

oh i disagree, i love them the best provided they are well done otherwise yes they are spongey but done right they are perfick.

Thanks for that, now I have looked up how to make them and am seriously considering buying crumpet rings! But then crumpets are about the only food I havent gone off totally since being PG, so home made crumpets with marmite sound delish :o

PaulaYatesbiggestfan · 13/02/2011 20:39

i think they are the best actually and have run tests!! They need cooking HOT and FAST they need to me 'knockable' ( like knocking on a door!) yet soft inside

Butter - lotsa!!

aPixie · 13/02/2011 20:43

Mine are the best. Took me a while to perfect the recipe but nom nom.

Warbutons are rank!

Iggly · 13/02/2011 20:46

YANBU, I am not impressed by Warburtons crumpets at all. My dd is not keen on them, however if I buy different ones like tesco she likes them.

icapturethecastle · 14/02/2011 00:16

Oh they are my favourite IME no other crumpets live up to them. Oh well each to their own!

Ryoko · 14/02/2011 01:27

Nothing wrong with anything made by Warbutons.

Kingsmill however are another matter, I prefer to go without bread products then buy their rancid crap.
