to have employed a cleaner

who lives in my village and whose child I teach?

I have finally given in and decided it's a cleaner or an appearance on "how clean is your house".

I have cleaned quite a lot in preparation for the cleaner coming - but I'm worried she'll think I'm an unbelievable slob (this would not be inaccurate, although we TRY - or at least my partner and I do - my son - mmm), and worse - TELL THE OTHER MUMS!

I think it is different - when I lived in a city none of my pupils' parents were my friends - lots are now - also as my son has got older and started school (now Y6) and has friends back a lot more, there's lots of pick up/drop offf/ sleep over situations.

In our book club there are two doctors at our practice, one teacher at the high school, two pre - school teachers, a solicitor and the owner of the local pub, amongst others - I guess it's quite live in each other's pockets already!

(This a local shop - are you local? Wink )

Hello
My Mum was a cleaner (her 3rd job) for my teacher and she never ever told us anything about the house not even how many rooms it had or if she had a swimming poolGrinI used to think teachers were rich!

madhattershouse · 12/02/2011 00:47

I have been a house cleaner in the past. The things I have seen I really care not to remember! Ranging from the man with ocd who cleaned BEFORE I went in..to the uni professor who was often still in bed at 2pm and running around half naked when I started cleaning! I did not go around telling about the state of anyones house..you would lose their employment, although finding blood stained knickers on the kitchen floor really did push the boundaries!!

YANBU - but I wouldn't want to be the teacher of my cleaner's child...a bit too close for comfort

MummieHunnie · 12/02/2011 00:56

Shock what did you do with the knickers?

ChippingInSmellyCheeseFreak · 12/02/2011 01:22

I wouldn't have done it. If she isn't very good it's going to be quite difficult to say so and there is the privacy (or lack of) It's all a bit too close for comfort for me - but then so is living in a small village where everyone already knows your business - it drove me bonkers!

Anyway, you've done it now, so I hope it works out for you all :)

BOAK at the knickers! Reassured that my level of squalor has not yet reached those dizzying heights!
