To give DD slice of cake for dinner?

I made Victoria sponge earlier.

Somehow I thought it was 5 instead of 6pm and gave DD a slice and an apple as a snack.

It's almost dinner time here (one hour ahead of the UK).

She's just getting over the flu and doesn't have a great appetite at the mo so I doubt she would eat much of dinner (it's not ready, anyway).

So, AIBU?

No YANBU - unless she is a baby!

I don't really know what you are asking. You gave her some cake, she's not got a great appetite, just offer her something later if she's hungry.

Not if it's a one off. If it's a weekly event then YABU!

Yes :o

winnybella · 10/02/2011 17:45

No, she's 2.

She'll have a bf before bed as well.

there are worse things you can give as a one off to an ill child than

flour, sugar, butter and eggs, and a piece of fruit & some milk

(isnt that what we almost all feed our children for tea on shrove Tuesday anyway?)

may not be ideal for 'dinner' every night but it wont hurt as a one off!

Grin @ Bogey. Genuine question here, though am not rasputin's dh.

Although, good point valium, hardly worth asking, I guess.

I've been feeling vaguely guilty today for some reason Hmm. Obv.she'll be fine.

Thanks all.

Will go and do something useful.

She will be fine! :)

valiumredhead · 10/02/2011 17:52

I'm sorry if my post sounded snippy - I was a bit confused as to why you were worried .

Bogeyface · 10/02/2011 17:53

Does this mean I can have cake for dinner? I dont want the spaghetti I am making for everyone else!

winnybella · 10/02/2011 18:18

Of course you can, Bogey.

That's what I'll be having as well.

And DP can cook himself something when he gets home later Wink

There have been plenty of times when I wished I had cake just so my DD would go to bed having eaten something, ANYTHING!

She's nearly 2 and I used to worry a lot about whether she had eaten "enough", but enough is whatever she's happy with, especially when she's not well.

And the fact you're worried about her eating cake even as a one-off means you're watching what she eats in general and being a good Mum. The rest of the time I bet she's eating fine!
