Blush

I'm on the last stretch of 4 years of studying at home, I'm stressed and I'm tired. This morning my battered and bruised laptop finally succumbed and is no more. Sad

I sobbed and keened as if someone had died. Blush Blush Blush

The fact that I have no money to replace it is making me cry some more. Bur seriously, its a ridiculous over-reaction isn't it?

Aw, you're typing the way you speak when you've had a filling Grin

TotemPole · 10/02/2011 12:05

Buzz, is it totally dead?

bupcakesandcunting · 10/02/2011 12:06

I have to use the on-screen keyboard after DS spilled FRUIT SHOOT on mine and bollocksed the a and q keys up.

Another reason Fruit Shoots need to be BANNED FROM EARTH.

diddl · 10/02/2011 12:06

YANBU.

I love am rather fond of my laptop.

I once cried over burnt toast-and went to my mum in tears to get a cuddle.

I was in my 20s at the timeBlush

It was the final straw in a series of events.

BuzzLiteBeer · 10/02/2011 12:07

OP posts:
ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 10/02/2011 12:16

Have you tried hitting it?

BuzzLiteBeer · 10/02/2011 12:17

I gave it a stern talking to and wagged a finger. then I dropped big fat tears on it and looked at it mournfully.
Still nothing!

TotemPole · 10/02/2011 12:18

Oh that's sad.Sad

If you're going to throw it out anyway, it could be worth opening it up to see if there's a loose connection that could be fixed.

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/02/2011 12:20

a laptop dying is like losing a limb Grin

hope gets fixed/manage to get a replacement

could it be something as simple as battery old and not charging properly - that happened to a friend and got new one off amazon for £25

BuzzLiteBeer · 10/02/2011 12:21

the battery has already gone, its was mains only since the Great tea Incident. Blush He probably never recovered from that. Poor not-so-little lappy.

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/02/2011 12:23

put him in a huge bowl of rice and airing cupboard

he may think hes a mobile phone and work again

BuzzLiteBeer · 10/02/2011 12:25

he's all dried out, that was months ago, but he's never been the same really. I think he was traumatised.

OP posts:
TotemPole · 10/02/2011 12:26

Have you checked the fuse in the plug?

I know I'm clutching at straws.

Sorry for your loss.:(

BuzzLiteBeer · 10/02/2011 12:38

oh clutch away, I'll try anything! Wink Just looked, its one of them integrated plug yokeys that you can't open. The bloody laptop is less than 2 years old but a child dropped it and then the tea incident.... I fear we have abused it in its short life-time. Blush

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/02/2011 13:20

BuzzLiteBeer · 10/02/2011 16:59

I don't think netmums covers Ireland? Thanks though, I'm dropping it into a friend tomorrow but it don't look hopeful.

Ah fuck it anyway!

Sorry haven't read all the thread.

It's upsetting when this happens (I lost all my MA work once :( )

Was it insured?

BuzzLiteBeer · 10/02/2011 22:21

Nope. I am adjusting to my loss though

IF you can't afford a new one, can you pick up a desk top from ebay or something?

How are you communicating with us now (aside from the magical use of broadband).

BuzzLiteBeer · 10/02/2011 22:25

nowhere to put a desktop I'm hoping to pick a recon from one source or another.
Borrowed one from a friend, can have it till next monday Smile
