To have blocked the loo at work and ran?

I was desperate for a poo at work today so had to answer the call of nature. However it was a massive one & I blocked the loo- I was so embarrassed that it wouldn't flush away that I covered it over with loo roll & ran back to my office.

blush blush blush what would you have done? Aibu to have not owned up?

I'd have ran too, then when I went in later I'd come back out and complain someone had blocked the toilet!

usualsuspect · 09/02/2011 21:44

I would have blamed someone else too

PaisleyLeaf · 09/02/2011 21:44

I'd've come out and complained that someone's blocked the toilet too.

itssnotfunny · 09/02/2011 21:45

you should have broke its back and flushed again. Burried in bog roll it would also flush away easier so probs someoen would have thought it was just a pile of loo roll unless it smelled putrid then they would know.

MaryPortasFan · 09/02/2011 21:45

We have a mysterious lady who does this at work... it's gross... but no way would I go and tell the caretaker. I'd run.

p.s. my first ever mumsnet post. Have been summoning up the courage for weeks!

CockularDepravity · 09/02/2011 21:45

Yes, you're being unreasonable because now someone else is going to have to clean up your (literal) mess. This is not reasonable behaviour unless you are a selfish and morally bankrupt buffoon.

itssnotfunny · 09/02/2011 21:47

imho therefore i think yabu Grin

Dropdeadfred · 09/02/2011 21:48

yuk

(welcome Maryportasfan Smile)

KenDoddsDadsDog · 09/02/2011 21:49

We used to have someone that we called "The phantom shelf shitter". They used to do a toilet blocker at least once a week.

MaryPortasFan · 09/02/2011 21:50

Thanks! :) Sometimes if you need to go there's not much you can do... Our lady does it on a regular basis. That's very unreasonable!

scurryfunge · 09/02/2011 21:53

This reminds me of DH who on his first day at work (nerves?) as a factory manager blocked the toilet. He had to report it to get in unblocked before he had formally been introduced to most of the people.Grin

Bearcat · 09/02/2011 21:54

I hate it if I have to have a poo at work and would probably try to hang on till I got home and then not need one , but men (DH) just don't seem to care where they have to do one.
DS2, now 19 used to have a friend who used to sometimes come back to our house for tea when they were in junior school, and without fail he would always have a poo and leave skid marks down the pan. Used to drive DS1 round the bend and muggins here always had to clean up!

Maud2011 · 09/02/2011 21:56

Hehe, YANBU, that sort of thing is excruciatingly embarrassing especially what with office politics and all... but what interests me is that you say "I was desperate for a poo at work today". I mean, do you usually hold it in for when you get home, or wherever you go after work Confused.

Once upon a time I shared an office with a "Phantom Turd Dropper" Grin.

FluteyBoots · 09/02/2011 22:03

Such happenings in our place are always followed by a highly euphemistic email from the secretary. It usually talks of "The unacceptable state of the ladies' washroom". And I always feel guilty and embarrassed even though it's not me.....I think people might be thinking it was me for some reason. Therefore YABU as your colleagues maybe blaming someone else :o

Run. Blush

GotArt · 10/02/2011 05:47

I'd would have walked out calmly, not acknowledging there was a problem... assuming there is more than one stall in your workplace bathroom. lol Then I would have told DH all about it when he got home and have a big laugh. Grin

controlpantsandgladrags · 10/02/2011 07:45

Morally wrong but I would have done exactly the same thing Smile

onceamai · 10/02/2011 07:53

I would have done exactly the same. After about a week you could always e-mail the office manager and say something like: once or twice lately there appears to have been a toilet blockage and I am sorry the cleaners have had to deal with this. However, would it be worth having the drainage system looked at in case there is an overall blackage in the system that is preventing complete flushing.

Best wishes
