go on the internet and download openoffice. this is free.

when you open anything in word you can choose to open it in open office instead.

Open the document, click on file, save as, then save it as a word 97-2003 document. Works normally has this facility.

thevisitor, it has another option word 2007 and word 97-2003 which should i choose?

I second open office. The problem with it though is that it might change the formatting. If you open your CV and the formatting looks off then try printing it to pdf to see if it comes out the way you expected it (just select print from the menu or hold control-p as usual and there should be a button saying pdf which will let you save it as a pdf). If the formatting is off on the pdf (which it probably will be) then fix the formatting and save the CV as a pdf and send it that way in case it looks different on the recipient's computer. Good luck getting the job :)

I would save it as 97-2003 just in case she doesn't already have the 2007 version although it shouldn't really matter as there is a download available from MS to allow users of the older version to open newer docs.

Ah - my last advice was thinking you didn't have Word. The print to pdf thing will work with newer versions of word.

save it as .txt it will then open in any word-type programme

work in recruitment and this is the way I ask people to send their CVs. saves going back and for if it doesnt open! :)
