Stands are just horrible, get grimy unless you wash them all the time, take up worktop space, potential hazard if knocked off worktop onto child/pet/feet.

Bin it unless maybe DH wants to do it all himself? IMHO whoever's dealing with the chores gets to do them the way they want - he's got no business telling you what to do

He emptied the dishwasher and dumped the cutlery on the shelf where the stands used to be! I have now chucked in in the drawer

i still mine in one of those containers that i presume one uses to stick them in to drip dry after hand washing.

that is where they stay on that container on the shelf

come meal times - container goes in centre of table and everyone helps themselves
