To wonder why I even bother to give advice on here?

I probably am but it pisses me off. There have been a few threads recently where I have taken time to give advice, and its just like my font is invisible. I know I'm not well known here, but I think its common courtesy to reply to people. I always reply to anyone who's been kind enough to take the time to offer me advice, even if its not helpful [harumphh]

Oh loopylou, I'm sorry if I've ever ignored your advice- I don't think I have, but just in case, I promise to abide by it in the future. What shall I do about embarrassing personal itching?

Laquitar · 07/02/2011 21:14

loopy keep a black book. And when their boiler breaks down ignore them Grin

(i remember you being very kind and helpful about my boiler)

catinthehat2 · 07/02/2011 21:16

I think it is bloody rude to ignore.

OK on a big thread you maybe have to dive in every hour or so & say "thanks for the replies chaps that's great"

If you have to go out, you say "I have to go out, will be back later to check up, thanks all in advance"

Apart from that I have seen THE most arrogant old timers people say stuff like " Oh I can't be expected to reply to everything" " Oh I can't check back every 30 seconds"

And yes, I have called, and will continue to call people on it. AND I think more people should not be afraid to do so.

I am entirely sure I have ruffled a few smug little feathers in the past.

Always nice to let folks know when they aren't really as popular as they fondly imagine Grin

FabbyChic · 07/02/2011 21:18

I reply to most threads, my font is invisible too as are most other posters, there are sometimes far too many responses for an OP to individually reply to them all.

I don't even read all the replies on a thread, just the green ones! i.e the OPs.

allsquareknickersnofurcoat · 07/02/2011 21:21

I have a bad habit though, that may be what some of you are referring to...

I start a thread, for advice or a rant or whatever. I respond for a while, read the advice and thank people for it. I then get distracted by some 20 page thread that takes me days to read through, and COMPLETELY FORGET ABOUT MY ORIGINAL THREAD!

Sometimes worry about my memory!! Confused

porcamiseria · 07/02/2011 21:24

choose your threads better!!!! I find that the times I tend to send a nice reply, people notice

or leave AIBU and go somewhere nicer!

catinthehat2 · 07/02/2011 21:24

(maryz did lots of excellent posts on a hols in Ireland thread recently, I have subsequently delegated detailed research to my DH)

ceebeegeebies · 07/02/2011 21:27

I know exactly what you mean - pisses me off aswell Grin

As other posters have described, yesterday I posted on a thread started by someone who was worried following an issue that had shown up in her 20-week scan - I had exactly the same issue so posted my experience to hopefully reassure her...I didn't post to get a thanks but it would have been nice for my post to have at least been acknowledged!

Have been here for nearly 5 years...you would have thought I would be used to it by now Grin

mary I've only been around 18mths or so, so still pretty clueless, but your return with a vengeance has obviously coincided with me spending too much time sat on my pregnant arse!

I'm new and sometimes feel a bit invisible- but not always.

Having said that, I don't always give 'advice' as such- not that I don't want to, but I'm not that great at wording it too well

loopylou6 · 07/02/2011 22:35

Oh and I have been here for 5 years and post most days

Nobody ever replies to me I think it's because they are off using advice to solve all their problems and therefor dont hav time to thank me Grin
