No DAZ....you cannot clean out the dirty even at thirty

Even if I actually washed the white load at 40, then again at 60

AND the orange baby food stains still have not come out! It's only mushed up carrot and potato, nothing else there aren't any colourings or anything? So what do you want? Blood? Although for some reason you can actually get rid of blood at 30 so what's the deal with the orange baby food?

Orange baby food stain is devils' blood, which is different to normal human blood therefore is not covered by any wonderful claim of cleaness made by any company.

bubbleOseven · 07/02/2011 14:21

Oh those adverts make me howl with laughter.

They can invent a washing powder that washes at -50 for all I care but the manufacturers are totally missing the point.

No-one cares what temperature it has to be, they only care that the stain is removed.

They must fink we is fick

HecateQueenOfWitches · 07/02/2011 14:34

I love washing powder adverts

advert 1 - our brand is the best brand ever. look how white your clothes are

6 months later, advert 2 - look at our new formula. This was our old formula, it left your whites grey, but our new formula gets them sparkling white and removes stains that no other product can touch

6 months later, advert 3 - our best ever formula. Our old formula struggled with stains but our new one makes your garment look like new

6 months later, advert 4...

I mean, really, people? Are we all that stupid?

Ridiculous.

reikizen · 07/02/2011 14:39

it's a bit like anti-aging creams.

BitOfFun · 07/02/2011 14:40

Totally agree. I don't think that orange stuff ever comes out, no matter what you use.

HappySeven · 07/02/2011 14:44

It's probably the devil's work but I soak clothes covered in orange baby food in a bucket with some Napisan before washing and it usually comes out.

BendyBob · 07/02/2011 14:45

I can't believe they're allowed to make those 30degree claims considering how strict ad rules are.

I use Ariel Excel Gel. It's quite good but no way does it get grass stains, blood or orange stuff out at 30 not in a million years. 50 or 60 maybe and even then I might still need Vanish as well.

Blatherskite · 07/02/2011 14:50

Not so useful in the Winter but in the Summer, if you hang your orange baby food stained stuff out on the line, the Sun will bleach out the stain.

Saying that, one of DD's white t-shirts got "bolognesed" the other day and I left it on the kitchen windowsill for 24 hours (sunny-est window in the house) and the stain faded almost completely.

cees · 07/02/2011 14:52

Daz is pure shite, makes my ds brake out with excema, hate the stuff.

We are a fairy house here.

Sidge · 07/02/2011 14:54

I never wash clothes at 30 so it's not a selling point for me!

I cannot believe that ANY washing powder/gel/liquidised fairydust can get carrot or spag bol stains out at anything less than about 60 degrees with chemical warfare-standard washing powder, stain remover and bleach.

PinkElephant73 · 07/02/2011 15:14

I can't understand why baby clothes are not all orange to start off with -would save a lot of grief

Or would it make the baby look like a guantanamo bay inmate?

bubbleOseven · 07/02/2011 15:38

lol at baby guantanao bay inmate Grin

Napisan will get orange stains out

TheVisitor · 07/02/2011 15:41

Bibs etc stick on a 90 prewash. That'll sort them. Grin

What got me recently is that advert "now you're washing at low temperatures, your child's clothes are covered in bacteria, so buy new Vanish antibacterial" I mean, come on! Do they expect us to believe that shite?

Blatherskite · 07/02/2011 15:43

My MIL bought DS a pair of bright orange dungarees when he was just toddling. I called them his Guantanamo Bay-be outfit Grin

oopslateagain · 07/02/2011 17:56

Tesco home brand spray stain remover. It gets dried-on spaghetti sauce out, now that is impressive!

Cillit Bang also works but takes the colour out too Blush lovely if you like the tie-dye look.

I use Ariel Excel gel too, but not at the 15 it says on the bottle - my machine doesn't have a 15 degree wash. It goes on 40 or 60 like everything else.

ShinyMoonInAPurpleSky · 07/02/2011 18:09

I've always wanted to know...when people talk about using bleach to wash whites...they don't mean actual bleach do they? Like the stuff you clean the floor or the loo with? Blush

OP posts:
Bucharest · 07/02/2011 18:13

I do!
Bleach is the only effing stuff that will get orange baby food out (or 7 yr old homemade tomato oily sauce for that matter)

Bucharest · 07/02/2011 18:14

You can get special clothes bleach- (which I suppose is less harsh than toilety bleach) but I just buy the el cheapo stuff and whack a bit of that in the washer.

oopslateagain · 07/02/2011 18:51

Bucharest you have homemade tomato sauce that's 7 years old? Is it nice? Grin

Bucharest · 07/02/2011 19:55

GrinNo,but I have a very slurpy 7 yr old.

I agree with having Guantanamo children actually, would save us a fortune.

Don't know what Napisan ads are like in the UK but here they have a very washing-powdery clean-and-happy family standing on a crowded train, next to a perfectly normal looking bloke who, heavens above, how very dare he....brushes slightly against them as he gets off. napisan woman rushes home like a headcase and slings all their clothes in the washer with a bucket of napisan and then relaxes.....

Sidge · 07/02/2011 20:34

Yup - Tesco value thin bleach which is about 30p for 2 litres.

A glug into a bucket of cold water, soak for a short time then wash. Gets your whites gleaming!

Blatherskite · 08/02/2011 08:10

That's the stuff I use too Sidge. Have a special bucket and wooden spoon set aside specifically for bleaching orange clothes and dishcloths Blush

llareggub · 08/02/2011 08:14

I've never failed to get a stain out. I just squirt on a bit of washing up liquid, stick on a normal wash and then hang in the sun.

Ooopsadaisy · 08/02/2011 08:24

I don't trust those adverts.

Anything that depicts a gorgeous model-like young woman in smart attire, grinning inanely with her perfect children whilst swinging her salon-prepped locks and wriggling her manicured nails around her spotless, tidy kitchen whilst everyone smiles as they sort the washing with looks of utter euphoria on their faces ...... sorry, lost my track now, but it's all utter bollocks.

30 degrees does not kill bacteria.

I buy ASDA's own washing powder and it's as good as anything.

Anything stained gets the Vanish treatment straight away or bleach in a bucket as other posters have suggested.
