Family friendly hotel

to complain.............. we have just arrived home from a family friendly chain hotel in london.

the spacious family room we booked turned out to be the usual bed for us but our DD bed was on the floor under the window right next to our bed DH had to climb across me to get out!

we stayed for two nights but the sheets were not changed.

Has anyone else had this?

OP. Why did you not complain on check out, before you actually paid?

Honestly, I do feel for you, a poor nights sleep is rough, but really you have to toughen up. ONE to complain about the room and the bed for your DD as soon as you took over the room.

TWO, the noise is enough for you to get your money back. You ought to have done this when leaving the hotel. Really.

Your DD is 6, a spot of hardship won't harm her, camping on the floor is the kind of things we loved as kids, so if you hadn't panicked about it, she wouldn't have been upset by it.

If you were upset about it, you ought to have dealt with it.

No-one likes confrontation, but when it's needed you HAVE to do it. It's your money, make sure it's spent with maximum value to you.

So you left your DD crying on the floor rather than one of you swapping with her? And why did you not complain on the first night? And whyyyyyyyyy would you spend £400 on a 6 year olds birthday? So many questions lol

London's rubbish for family rooms, so we tried the Youth Hostel in Earls Court. It was pretty awful (and yes I have stayed in YHAs before). All the families staying there wanted to make their own breakfast and dinner and the kitchen was cramped and the ovens didn't work. Very disappointing. There are five of us, so we don't fit in normal hotel rooms. I love London and we'd love to go more often, but we haven't found a great base yet. Two rooms in a Travelodge maybe (although with the eldest only 14 yrs, we'd probably end up with a police caution and a social worker visit)?

IME hotel rooms in London are tiny, even in the more expensive chains (Radisson, for example). They're also noisy.

The bed situation sucks though - YANBU to complain about that. Obv. you should have done so at the time but I'd probably have put up and shut up (am a wuss).

Having said that, I don't think ds would've been remotely upset about it all. I guess he's a heavy sleeper.

I spent Sunday night in a Premier Inn. We had exactly the same arrangement - small child fold out bed on the floor. It was perfectly OK = and as I expected from the description. They told me that when I checked in that they had a "Good Night" guarantee - that if there was anything we weren't satisfied with we would get a refund. I couldn't find anything to complain about at all.

Hotels in London are a complete rip-off.

Family rooms are usually tiny. We had a family trip and booked a standard twin room for DH to share with DNephew. I had a 'family room' for me and the 3 girls. We all had to shuffle round each other to get to the bathroom, roon was so small, and DH's 'twin room' was bunkbeds!

Paris is so much better, don't you know.

you could get a nice independent hotel for way less than that

and agree with the poster who said the little girl probs picked up the vibes from mum who was stressing, kids dont usually give a damn about where they are sleeping
