... I cook, DH washes up. We started a new half litre bottle last Saturday and today I washed up and it is nearly empty. I am a bit Confused at what we are doing with this (esp considering we also have a dishwasher that goes on ever 2 nights or so). DH says its normal.

How long does a standard 500ml bottle of wash up last you?

Much longer than that. Does the sink not overflow with bubbles?

How much is he using fgs!

A bottle lasts me a couple of months! 1 or 2 squirts and do a load pretty much everyday!

I buy Fa**y and dilute it about 1 to 10 with water. A bottle will last me months and it still works just as well.

Depends on the brand if its a cheapie a couple of weeks if were lucky, if fairy-liquid at least 6 weeks.

At least a few weeks to a month, and I squirt quite a bit in it, and have no room for a dishwasher! I'd be sniffing his breath after doing the dishes Grin

I use Fairy liquid, and the bottle I'm currently using has been on the go since August 2010.

That either means I'm very good at being economical with detergent, or that I'm shockingly slovenly when it comes to washing up.

Choose your own adventure.

I wash up under running water, not in a sink of water, if that makes a difference.

But a bottle should definitely last more than a week!

DH uses buckets. I don't. It must be a man thing.

I use fairy liquid and a 500ml bottle lasts at least 6 months. We have a dishwasher but I use the odd squirt for washing pans/lunchboxes. Also once or twice a day a small squirt in very hot water to do the worktops.

Handwash seems to last ages too. I think we use plenty and we all wash hands regularly but I don't depress the button fully so we don't get a "full" squirt of it.
