We live a 5 minute walk from an excellent senior school which has been the catchment area school for this area for years. The local council have proposed a change to the catchment area which will mean we will be out of catchment and families who live the other side of town (not a walkable distance) will be allocated this school and my children will have to walk past this excellent school to go to a school with a very poor results record. As you can imagine the local residents are campaigning but the council have no intention of listening to our reasonable arguments about children being able to walk to school etc. My eldest will not go to senior school for 2 years so we will have the chance to move house but it seems so unfair that we will have to go the cost and hassle of moving when we live so close to this school already. It seems to be a political argument where residents on a new housing estate who bought their homes knowing they were not in the catchment for this school will be given priority over residents in this area who have lived here for years. Sorry this has become a long rant but I am so cross and feel no one is listening.
