to hope that when my son gets older, the fashion for young lads wearing their trousers slung so low is well and truely over.

why do they do it?, they look ridiculous.

young lad, walking along the street today, his trousers were so low, you could see the back of his underpants which just looked like they needed binning a jolly good wash.

How old is he? The fashion has been around for a while now, I'm sure it is due to change soon.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 06/02/2011 17:17

Amen to that... it does look silly in my opinion.

reelingintheyears · 06/02/2011 17:17

Worse when you can see their arse crack...

Not nice..

Salmotrutta · 06/02/2011 17:19

Hate this - I have to resist the urge to rush over and pull them up!
Or pull down the crop-tops on hefty young ladies with an overhanging tummy.

lucykate · 06/02/2011 17:19

he's 5.

i live in hope this fad doesn't get replaced with something worse Wink

BendyBob · 06/02/2011 17:20

And how how do they stay up?? Confused

It fascinates me. They're always such skinny lads too. I can't help but look and wonder. Without wanting to get too starey about it of course - that wouldn't be good would it?Blush

But HOW..?

HecateQueenOfWitches · 06/02/2011 17:20

I know. It looks really stupid.

But it has always been the same.

I looked stupid in batwing jumpers and puffball skirts.

My sister looked stupid in head-to-toe leather and gloves, leather bracelets and dog collars Hmm with studs shaped like bullets on them.

We all went through it.
We all thought we looked cool and people who saw us were impressed by us.
None of us heard the sniggering. Grin

reelingintheyears · 06/02/2011 17:21

I'd like to pull their trousers DOWN...
and see how embarrassed they are.

lucykate · 06/02/2011 17:21

this really should be the next mumsnet campaign, 'lads, pull your trousers up fgs'

we need a mnetter to come along with a teen ds to ask him to explain why they think having your pants on show looks good.

penelopestitsdropped · 06/02/2011 17:24

i have been known to walk behind group of "im well ard" type lads, tap one on the shoulder as ai walk past and say "dude you;ve got a skid showing"

it is the funniest thing in the world watching him almost fall over spinning round to check.
then all his mates piss themselves laughing.

then he pulls his trousers up.

we need a mnetter to come along with a teen ds to ask him to explain why they think having your pants on show looks good^.

Same reason we all thought spandex jumpsuits looke great in the 70's.

the fashion industry tells us it does and so we blindly follwo like sheep

lucykate · 06/02/2011 17:25

peacocks fan out their tails feathers to attract females, latest thinking is obviously flash your skids, that'll turn 'em on Hmm

brimfull · 06/02/2011 17:28

god I hope it goes soon
awful awful trend

nomoreheels · 06/02/2011 17:29

A vile look. I also hate those stupid haircuts where lads start their parting nearly by their ears. It's supposed to look tousled & sideswept I guess, but it's just rubbish. They just have it hanging in their faces.

oh dont get me started. In the summer two students were doing research for the Council, one lad had is jeans so low you could see his trunks, the fly bit Blush

stillbobbysgirl · 06/02/2011 17:31

i saw a young lad being hauled into a police car last week, and as they walked him to it, copper close on each side, he couldn't keep his legs apart to keep low slung trousers up and they actually fell down around his ankles in the street Smile

I have two DSs who do this revolting display...
They will not/can not give an answer.
[grrr]

CuppaTeaJanice · 06/02/2011 17:35

The front view is far worse. You'd think their tackle would get cold just covered by a thin pair of boxers.

Mind you, Gok Wan wears his trousers in exactly the same way, so it's not just the youngsters.

reelingintheyears · 06/02/2011 17:36

Gok Wan isn't young????

Oh,i'm old....

goingroundthebend4 · 06/02/2011 17:37

I'm so glad both my teen ds find it funny when others wear like that

I'm another one that wants to yank them up as I go past

RatherBeOnThePiste · 06/02/2011 17:40

You are all showing your age!!

We had similar god awful trends too. FGS We all had tartan trousers and socks for the Bay City Rollers. That was a crime!
