to wish I could buy a petticoat for my DD?

She's 6 and when Summer term rolls around and they all wear those incredibly thin frocks to school...I always wish I knew where to buy a little "underslip" thing. Blush

I wore them in the late 70s and early 80s with my frocks! Wy can't you get them anymore?

I nver went ut without a petticoat on! You could get a full one with a vest attched or a little skirt one with an elastcated waist.

they were pretty...I know DD who is a right twee bugger

really traditional would love them.

AIBU and old fashioned? They add warmth and stop ones knick-knacks being on show when the sun shines through you frock.

I know the ones you mean, DD wore them all the time and that was in the early 90's

These aren't quite as pretty, but I used to buy from here, as some were too scratchy.

Hope this helps cotton slips

redsquirrle · 06/02/2011 16:50

have you sorted your problem with the slips out? i was just thinking you could make her a couple.

WimpleOfTheBallet · 06/02/2011 16:50

oh wow! Thanks so much! Those are great! I could always sew a bit of ribbon on to cheer them up

YABU for saying frocks like my great auntie Lilian :o
Surely ebay will turn up some treasures?

Olessaty · 06/02/2011 16:57

Another thing I struggle to find is nighties for bedtime. Just plain old nighties without characters on.

WimpleOfTheBallet · 06/02/2011 17:05

I got some from this site <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=www.notonthehighstreet.com/uploads/partners/idealcottons/250/nighties.jpg&imgrefurl=kids-posh-togs.co.uk/tag/girls-cotton-nighties/&usg=__iPwwGO-IZ65_Q_Cm_hWYdwcWSwM=&h=250&w=191&sz=8&hl=en&start=1&sig2=ue7JgSpIuiO4xW6Fy1FC9g&zoom=1&um=1&itbs=1&tbnid=1zKciKwl2Vk_xM:&tbnh=111&tbnw=85&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dwhite%2Btraditional%2Bnighties%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26rlz%3D1T4ACAW_enGB356GB357%26tbs%3Disch:1&ei=Z9ROTe6mOY6AhQeb-ZSyDg" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">here Olessaty

Nannynobnobs....Frock is muh nicer than boring old "dress" and as I worked as an actress for a long time it's habit...in the theatre your costume is always your "frock" for some reason...at least the wardrobe dept says so!

nannynobnobs · 06/02/2011 17:13

I must admit I use it sometimes too. Apparently I once said "Nice frock" to a bride at a wedding reception my dad was DJing for. (I was 17, very drunk and a disgrace anyway).
Thousands of silkworms died for her elegant, tasteful, beaded creation. I said "Nice frock" Shock

alibubbles · 06/02/2011 17:19

The White Company do lovely nightwear, at a price!

WimpleOfTheBallet · 06/02/2011 17:20

Grin you should have said "Stunning gown dear" instead.
