Okay, I'm no mutton yet! Grin

But since having DS, I feel like a kid when I wear fashionable clothes or make an effort. In my head I think I look like Im trying to be a much less orange version of my 15 yo cousin!

But I feel like a chav if I wear a tracksuit outside , and plain stupid if I'm dressed up. I think after over a year of wearing whatever I could, I've lost me

You've just described how i feel about myself. That middle ground of "WTF do I wear?! i'm not ready for Per Una just yet"

I had the same thing a few years ago after I had DD1 when I was 23. Before I got pg I was just thinking that I need to buy some more clothes - had been sporting a surfie chick/skater that can't skate/urban raver look for far too many years and needed to update. then I got pg and ballooned to epic proportions and just wore whatever crap I could fit into.

So when I finally lost some weight after DD1 was born I had to reinvent myself. It was quite liberating really, I totally changed my style. I guess it's a lot more grown up now, but still not 'mumsy' at all. I haven't really got any advice, except pick things that you really like rather than what is high fashion right now. Ebay was a winner for me in my fashion reinvention!

  1. I know I'm not old by a long shot, and my mum thinks I'm being ridiculous (in a nice way!) But I'm married and have a child, I'm not a teenager, and certainly dont have the body of one!

Dress to suit your figure and you can't go wrong.

Age has nothing to do with it considering there are so many teenagers around who quite frankly must have asked the opinion of someone whose blind drunk before leaving the house.

Wear what suits you...if you like what others are wearing but don't have the figure for it, then adapt it to your individual look.

I felt much the same as you OP and when I look back at photos of myself after I had 3 DC when I was 23 I looked like a proper frumpy mummy even though I still had a good figure - I just looked like a tramp!

I then had an 8 year gap and had 3 more children and something just kicked in with me .... I rediscovered make up and fashionable clothes -allbeit jeans and flattering tops and heels and I have never looked back, my DH can't get enough of me and I get compliments on my appearance everyday

I think I have unleashed a monster Grin

Oh and I'm 39 so you are me 14/15 yrs ago ...there is hope for you yet muahahahahaha x

spongebobsquareknickers · 06/02/2011 00:31

Wear what you like! Wear what you feel good in...at 25 you can get away with anything.

Im 38. I can't. If you like what's in the high street shops then wear that. I promiseyou you're not even sheep yet!
