I love it. I love it. I know I should think of the polar bears but I love it.

The old one broke last August whilst trying to do washing for our holiday. Since then I have struggled on with using the radiators. This has been a major pain, am absolutely sick of trekking round the house again and again and having clothes everywhere! The washing pile - never small has threatened to overwhelm us. I work full time, the weather has bee crap and even if it hadn't been I'm not at home to hang stuff out and take it in befor dark.

So yesterday (now holiday, expensive car repair and Christmas are all dealt with) dh went and got our new one.

It's HUGE - 7kg capacity (our old one was just a mini one) and I love it. It has already helped me get through more washing in 24 hours then I could get dry in a weekend without it. Most things don't need ironing Grin

Have I mentioned that I love it Smile

So AIBU?

Northernlurker · 04/02/2011 21:16

Enjoy Grin

I got one for the first time ever just before christmas cannot believe how easy it makes life.

A toast Wine to your new dryer Wink

notso · 04/02/2011 21:25

I love mine too.
I felt very smug earlier as I watched my neighbour wrestle her sheets on the line in gale force winds.

Casserole · 04/02/2011 21:27

Oh YASNBU Grin

Got my first ever tumble dryer last year. I think I'd save IT in a fire over my wedding photos now. And only just below the kids and pets Wink

JoyceBarnaby · 04/02/2011 22:28

YANBU! I am another one who has only just got their first tumble dryer and it is truly brilliant!

cybbo · 04/02/2011 22:30

Dont forget to clean out the lint filters inbetween each session people

As you were

BertieBotts · 04/02/2011 22:30

I've never really wanted a tumble drier, but I remember when I first got a dishwasher and YES I know exactly what you mean Grin

I think you should always do without old, broken things for a while, then you really appreciate them when you get the new one Grin

Meglet · 04/02/2011 22:32

yanbu. They're priceless when the dc's have a d&v bug or it's non-stop rain.

smugmumofboys · 04/02/2011 22:33

I got one for the first time last autumn and it has transformed my life.

So I know exactly what you mean. Smile

simpson · 04/02/2011 22:34

I have also just got my first tumble drier and love it.

Just wonder whether I love the drier or my new kindle more Grin Grin

spongebobsquareknickers · 04/02/2011 22:35

Am jealous, my drier decided to die just after I had my DS. Bad timing, nasty drier!!

waffleanddaub · 04/02/2011 22:37

I'm not saying YABU, but have you thought of the environmental impact? ( says this hypocritically and runs as has own beloved drier ) Grin

bubblewrapped · 04/02/2011 22:39

You can bring clothes in when its dark you know Wink

You can even leave them out overnight Grin

I binned my drier after getting pissed off with shrunken clothes..

I miss it occasionally, but the empty space has now been filled..

waffleanddaub · 04/02/2011 22:43

Ooh, what with bubblewrapped?

bubblewrapped · 04/02/2011 22:45

A lovely pine mobile workstation thingymajigg...

Which is now cluttered with a steamer, trays of veg, the dogs biscuits in their tupperware pots, and various other bits of homeless tat in the kitchen... grrrrrrrr...

twinklingfairy · 04/02/2011 22:51

I have struggled away without a drier for 3.5yrs of babydom, inc reusable nappies but have now got my first ever drier. I too love it!!
I have reasoned out the enviromental impact with the fact that DH uses it as his heater when he is working out in the garage. I figured if he was buying a heater, why not buy one that dries the washing at the same time?
Does that work out, do you think, or am I fooling myself? Smile

waffleanddaub · 04/02/2011 22:53

Sounds lovely. It's always nice to have a good place to keep such items. Mine just sort of get stuffed into cupboards and fall out randomly on children and pets....

Anway, you can indeed put washing out in the howling gales and rain we're getting just now. It's just that you wouldn't be able to take back in for some time. Maybe April Grin

Sidge · 04/02/2011 22:53

YANBU at all.

I love my tumbler, and literally couldn't be without it.

I'm afraid the environment takes second place to our need for dried clothes and bedding at the moment. I try and compensate for it in other ways.

twinklingfairy · 04/02/2011 22:54

Oh I understand completely bubblewrap. I worked for ages to do up my sideboard (sanded and painted, oiled the top) It was lovely and clear for about a week, reasonably so for about a month and now takes ages to claer so that I can use it.
I am just a clutter bug!!

Tigerbomb · 04/02/2011 22:57

I love my condenser tumble drier, it is so much better (and cheaper to run) than my old tumble drier. I don't even have to iron clothes anymore.

I just wash(dry)n go Grin

bubblewrapped · 04/02/2011 22:58

We do still have the drier.. it is somewhere in the shed at the bottom of the mudfield garden.

My ever helpful husband offered to run me a weatherproof cable down there..

"Yes darling, I am really going to put my fecking wellies on, and squelch half a mile down the garden with a basket of wet washing..." Hmm

So I got a clothes maiden to dry on and ban people from wearing clothes for an hour before they chuck them in the laundry in winter!..

bigbeagleeyes · 04/02/2011 23:02

I couldn't live without my tumble dryer. I love it too. And talking of loving household objects, I lost my beloved dishwasher over a year ago. I finally have enough money to get a new one and I've just ordered it and I can't wait. Am I really sad to get excited my this?

bubblewrapped · 05/02/2011 00:07

The one thing I cant live without is my washing machine.

When me not very old one broke down last year I was so blase about it .. saying yeah we can cope for a month or so... I will use the launderette...

I think I lasted less than a week before I dragged husband and his credit card to Currys..

Then had to wait another week for it to be delivered..

I hate the launderette with a passion, it is soul destroying sitting in there...

Northernlurker · 05/02/2011 08:45

I couldn't last 48 hours without a new washing machine!
Bigbeagleyes - yanbu about your dishwasher. Enjoy!

Well I'm very pleased you all feel IANBU Grin

It's humming away as we speak and yes I am cleaning the fluff filter and emptying the condenser drawer Grin
