Did you have an accident that was not your fault??? Yes, that is why it is called an accident!

I can't bear this blame culture and think adverts like this just encourage people to try and profit from everyone's misfortune. I hope he never gets a fever acting job again after advertising such a scimmy bunch of lawyers. It annoys me even more that they have '4 U' in their name- are they trying to be hip and trendy too....

Bahhh!

The one I love is the one he goes '100% lawyers, 100% for you.' while walking round a deserted office. My DH and I LOVE that ad. We end up copying it for everything.

Looking at DD: '100% baby, 100% for you.'
Cooking supper '100% cottage pie, 100% for you'

Yup it's laugh-a-minute round mine!

but yes, on a serious note I agree - the blame culture is way out of hand. On the one hand you should have the right to sue if failure leads to major injuries, like that baby who was left brain-damaged by the hospital failures at birth, but on the other hand some of it is ridiculous.

kenobi · 04/02/2011 09:41

Is it the same one?

LoveBeingADaddysGirl · 04/02/2011 09:44

He's not from holby, he was in the bill!

nymphadora · 04/02/2011 09:46

He was a dodgy copper how can we trust him?

kenobi · 04/02/2011 09:49

100% dodgy copper, 100% for you.

I checked, it is the one Grin

Samraves · 04/02/2011 09:53

Haha, definitely 100% dodgy! Well yes, in exceptional cases... But bit just for tripping I've because you didn't look where you were going... Ok you may have hurt yourself and it may inconvenience you, but get over it and don't try and sue the council for not sweeping up leaves!!!

Or your former 'best friend' because they laughed when you sat on one of their chairs and it gave way....

Am I thinking of the wrong ad or is it not Johnny Allen from Eastenders?

kenobi · 04/02/2011 10:01

Same chap here

ElsieR · 04/02/2011 11:01

I am with you there. I change mute the TV and look away every time it comes on.
I find this type of advert despicable.

ElsieR · 04/02/2011 11:02

oops! Ignore "change".

begonyabampot · 04/02/2011 11:05

he's been getting on my nerves for over a year now. it was when he used to say 'ALL OF IT!' in a really aggressive, rough voice. All this 'we' - you're a bloody actor off the Bill mate - makes me distrust the stupid firm straight away!

Still not as annoying as the Malteser mum though.

kenobi · 04/02/2011 11:07

begonyabampot - exactly - he's so weirdly threatening!

'100% bloody annoying, 100% for you'.

(OK I'll stop now...) Grin

begonyabampot · 04/02/2011 11:09

I knew a women from my street (they were really rough, never worked, huge family) who tried to sue for trauma when she witnessed a minor car dink in a housing estate so at low speed etc. The woman who was actually involved in the dink told me about as she was gobsmacked.

scary thing is - you probably could zukiecat.

When i go downtown I have to fight a desire to snarl at these guys who approach you asking you if you have had an accident - know it's just their job and they probably get crap money - but they really rile me up.

CalamityKate · 04/02/2011 11:21

Say "Yes, it's my weak pelvic floor" and start telling him all about your search for the perfect incontinence pants.

Just sprayed tea over the keyboard at the weak pelvic floor suggestion. Thanks Calamity Jane, I'm going to remember that and try it out!

begonyabampot · 04/02/2011 11:35

it's a hard one. I hate the compensation culture but can see that some accidents could deserve it. If some one really was negligent and the result had a lasting effect that impaired the persons movement/ earning capacity etc. Such a hard topic. I ran into a lady when I was heavily pregnant - minor bump (no airbags went off and speed was about 10-15 MPH if that) in the wet. She was nice. exchanged details etc and never heard of her again until a good while later when it seems she had approached my insurance company about whiplash - never heard back from them again so assumed it was never pursued.

potplant · 04/02/2011 11:41

YABU - he's an actor and we've all got to make a living

AND just because you sue someone doesn't mean that you'll get anything.

fridayfunkout · 04/02/2011 13:14

pfft. He didn't HAVE to take the job once he realised how utterly pantsola the advert's script was. Sell-out!

< wonders if someone can sell out when their major credits were The Bill and EastEnders >

jonicomelately · 04/02/2011 13:18

There's no legal aid people.

This is the only way to get compensation if you are injured. Imagine if you couldn't pay your mortgage or rent or buy your kids food for a long period of time because somebody veered off the road and ran you over. You may be temped to ask a solicitor for help then.

fizzpops · 04/02/2011 13:23

potplant - DH and I were on the receivng end of a no win no fee claim. Total stupidity on their part but because they had injured themselves on our property they thought they would chance it.

It dragged on for over a year and caused DH and me a lot of worry not to mention having to get our insurance company involved and finding paperwork and photographs from six years ago.

People think these kind of claims just involve insurance companies and as long as you are insured you have nothing to worry about but I can assure you we had many a sleepless night worrying about it.

Fortunately for us the case was dropped but we didn't receive any explanation as to why which would have at least set our minds at rest that something similar would not happen to us again.

Samraves · 04/02/2011 19:52

He may just be an actor, but he can choose his jobs. No-one made him do it... And in the ad he makes out that he is one of the lawyers... Which annoys me even more. Has he no morals!!!!

I do agree when there us actual negligence with a terrible life changing consequence, that there should be some compensation- but i bet the majority are people who've had minor dinks in their car or tripped up etc i have heard of people deliberately looking for something to trip over to sue the council or private companies...
