In light of the blood boiling elsewhere - how about what makes us really really happy. Discuss.... Grin

reading a really good book again and loving it just as much, if not more than the first time I read it. Same applied to films and noticing something that had not struck me the first time around.
Spending the day om MN with cups of tea rather than washing the dishes.
The amazing sunsets that we get in Yorkshire.

oooh - have another one!
Scoffing the whole packet of Thornton's Millionaires Shortbread with my DS on the way home from school Grin

Cuddling DS.
Not having to go to work at the moment.
Cold, crisp, misty sunny mornings when it's early and quiet.
Delicious food.
A good run.

Spending "slob-around Sundays" with ds - where we stay in our pyjamas, and lounge around in the playroom drinking tea (me) and playing with Playmobil

Being by the sea.

Doing Christmassy things at Christmas with ds.

Sunshine

Bed

Any combination of the above.

Carrotsandcelery · 02/02/2011 16:53

Asteria are you, infact, me? We also just scoffed a whole packet of Thornton's Millionaires Shortbread - we did it at home though (only because they were already in the house!)

Asteria · 02/02/2011 17:28

Carrots - clearly we are both very special people who are wholly incapable of opening a packet and just having one! I took some to a friend's house the other day and she took 4 (bearing in mind how tiny they are) out of the packet and sat them on a plate - they looked so forlorn! She then tried to get me to take the rest of the packet home with me - I refused as I already had another one in the car!!

I can remember visiting a friend and taking pancakes (the ones that are about the size of a mug). She took one out of the packet, buttered it, cut it into four and put it on a plate for the 3 of us having coffee to share Shock
Just thinking about it makes me smile!
Ha ha - something else that makes me happy!

Asteria · 02/02/2011 20:03

ah - see I generally try and spend my time having coffee with friends who fight me for the last biccie! My partner in crime and I take it in turns to do friday night teas - with obligatory bottle of champagne/prosecco to celebrate surviving another week. Now that really does make me smile!!

Hearing my dcs chuckle together.

Seeing them in one bedroom together, each with their heads in their own book, even the 15 month old!

When they're sleeping.

When they choose to be affectionate towards me and dh.

When they're haring about together at the zoo.

Picking them up from school and hearing about their day.

Being able to hug dh in bed every once in a while when a child isn't between us. Laughing at the dcs obvious disgust at this.

Sitting round the table together over roast chicken and roast potatoes.

We have completely blue skies and sunshine - grass is frozen and sparkly. The dog is sunbathing in the sun patch on the floor after a lovely crisp sunny walk in it. This makes me happy. Very very happy. Smile

I just bought some new lipgloss Grin

Fridays!

But I get really grumpy on Sunday night Sad

Opening a new book and realising an hour has passed like a minute.

Reading in the bath.

Feeling my baby kick inside - imagine him saying "hello mummy".

Making plans with my DH about all the fun stuff we're going to do with DS when he arrives (fly a kite, take him to the seaside, teach him to read).

Cuddling my newborn nephew and realising he's fallen asleep clutching onto my bump like a little monkey.

Imagining my son and DN growing up together - summers spent in paddling pools, swim nappies and cheeky toddlers egging each other on.

Cold chicken legs with maldon salt.

A G&T made with a 'holiday measure' of gin.

That hour before dusk during summer (especially on holiday) when there's a warm breeze and the light is fading.

...have I mentioned raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens? Grin

Hearing Ds laughing with a friend in another room.

Evening cuddle while reading a story to ds.

Seeing ds do something that I helped him to learn how to do.

Seeing ds do something that he has learned by himself.

Cycling on a sunny day.

Seeing the snowdrops and knowing that the crocuses aren't far behind, and then the daffodils, and then the bluebells...

Bumpsadaisie · 03/02/2011 13:52

The thought that I may just have conceived another little DD or even little DS as a sibling for DD. Finger's x'd for the 2WW!

Thinking about having two little children about the place.

DD and practically everything about her esp right now (20 mths) as she is really cute with her chatting.

At the weekend when DH and I can spend time doing fun things together.

Feeding our pigs.

DH and his new found enthusiasm for making ham and bacon out of said pigs - he is like a little boy he is so excited about it.

Imagining being on a Greek island at a taverna by the sea - it is warm, breezy, ahhh. After a Cumbrian winter it is almost impossible to believe that we will ever see sun or blue sea again!

Playing my piano and getting a tricky bit right at last!

Listening to music - esp my new collection of Mozart Symphonies which just lift the spirit in these dark evenings.

cocoachannel · 03/02/2011 13:57

Just started maternity leave so sorting out the baby's clothes and bedroom whilst she kicks away makes me very happy.

Curling up with a hot drink, cake and my kindle or MN on the phone, in the local coffee shop in the middle of the day knowing that very soon a couple of hours reading in peace will be a distant memory..!

DH coming home at the end of the day when I'm more than ready for some company!

Emmanana · 04/02/2011 11:06

Having a bath, then getting into bed with freshly changed sheets, snuggling down under a feather duvet, and drifting off to sleep!
