To think Hello and OK give a totally unrealistic idea of having a new baby

New mum is usually shown looking absolutely fabulous, wearing flimsy lacy outfit, and posing in professionally designed nursery with not a box of pampers of tub of sudocreme in sight. Rachel Stevens is the latest culprit.

AIBU to suspect that really they have bags under their eyes, are wearing a corset and have hidden the pampers, calpol, and laundry basket full of dirty babygros and vests out of sight until the photographer goes?

YABU - doncha know EVERYONE is back in their size 6 skinny jeans a week after the birth. If you are not then there must be something wrong.....

hello online has some rather fetching pictures of colin firth in it today

so it does have some good points

porcamiseria · 30/01/2011 21:46

ooooh get all the snooty arses on here! suprised you can even bear MN oh intellectual ones! I have a degree and a good job, but you know what I like to relax with reading celeb cack, so shoot me

"frankly anyone who reads this type of crap needs their head testing and their bank account frozen" you sound like a fucking barrel of laughs!

anyway, most celebs have private birth, nannies, maternity night nurses etc, so not suprised they are not as knackered as us, plus its amazing what lighting and make up does

verytellytubby · 30/01/2011 21:47

Of course not. It's Hello. They've probably been given a few grand.

verytellytubby · 30/01/2011 21:48

Oh and I read Grazia and Heat Grin

prettymuchapixiegirl · 30/01/2011 22:27

The celebs in those magazines have a maternity nurse to look after their baby day and night, a cleaner, someone to do their ironing, hairdressers and make up artists at their disposal, personal trainers, healthy diet meals delivered to their door by swish organic food company etc. So it's no suprise really that they look fantastic within days of giving birth. Also I would think recovering from a birth in the Portland Hospital is probably easier and more restful than recovering from giving birth in an NHS hospital.....

balloonballs · 30/01/2011 22:28

Seriously? This is only occurring to you now?

swanandduck · 31/01/2011 09:23

Thanks for all the replies. Yes, you're right. Hello and OK are a load of rubbish. OK is full of WAGs and Soap Stars showing off their tacky weddings and houses, and Hello is full of minor european royalty I couldn't care less about.

I much prefer Heat Gin.

swanandduck · 31/01/2011 09:23

[Grin] not Gin. (Although a glass of that with Heat - nice).

Hasn't she only just had her baby? She wouldnt even need calpol yet so wouldnt even have thought to look for it. I had nappies in a drawer and dirty clothes in the laundry basket so am I unrealistic as probably none of what you mentioned in my first photos either.

And if a mag was coming to do a photoshoot of course you would get dressed nice with a bit of makeup - looking good is part of her persona in the celeb world.

porcamiseria · 31/01/2011 09:53

Heat makes me feel about one million years old, so have moved to Grazia! agree OK full of tacky WAGS

ThatllDoPig · 31/01/2011 09:55

YANBU, but everyone knows they are full of photoshopped crap. Surely no-one believes anything in there. Just trash mags. But they have their place!

Mumcentreplus · 31/01/2011 10:19

I don't read any mags Wink...although I can't resist a sneaky peek of Take-a-Break/Chat etc etc if it's on the kitchen table at work....

I just find myself shouting into celeb mags...and that's just wrong and slightly strange nuts (IISSM)Confused Grin...

plus it's an utter waste of money...imo
