... to think you shouldn't get your prolapse out on telly?

I know some people think Embarrassing Bodies is all for the good, being educational, etc., but AIBU in thinking an old lady shouldn't be showing the world her prolapsed bum on national television?

Also, what was with the bloke with warty hands who DIDN'T (as it turned out) have them on his dick as well, but hey, let's just zoom in on his dick anyway.

And why wasn't the girl with two fanjos wearing a paper bag on her head?

My DD says 'It's not as if people will recognise her when she's walking down the street; no-one will remember her...' But I'm thinking 'Do these people not have work colleagues, families and friends (or - in the case of elderly lady - bridge partners) who might feel ever so slightly cringy about them afterwards?'

No matter what was wrong with me, I definitely wouldn't be getting my bits out on television and showing them to the nation. Would you?

Don't you think Dr. C is probably gay?

pigletmania · 30/01/2011 16:48

I see your point kitstwins, however I could not do it myself, but then again I am not usually embarassed to go to my GP.

pigletmania · 30/01/2011 16:49

He is teeny

Chocolocolate · 30/01/2011 16:50

I agree with kitstwins - well said.

Also, I don't think that the people on the show are the people who are too embarrassed to go to their GPs, but they may encourage others who are.

I think the program just says that they were too embarrassed to go to the GP so that others can relate.

ilovesprouts · 30/01/2011 16:57

i think doc c is gay too!!

Animation · 30/01/2011 16:58

Kitswins - you talk a lot of sense, and some of these people are desperate, but are their vulnerabilities being exploited for TV. OK, focus on their problem bits for the sake of educating the public, but do we need to see their face? Should their identity be revealed?

eaglewings · 30/01/2011 16:59

He is, have been told from a reliable source.....

Butterbur · 30/01/2011 17:02

For some reason, I shall be very disappointed if Dr C is gay.

Was also disappointed when he had to give a semen sample, and it was a discreet fade to black. Not sure quite what I was expecting there...Grin

MilaMae · 30/01/2011 17:08

What were those huge floppy growth things on the back of somebody's head?Dp and I couldn't bare to watch but I'm dying to know.

PURPLESWAN · 30/01/2011 17:14

Yeurgh...Dr C attractive....doesnt appeal at all

I saw him on something say "menopause shouldnt affect your sex drive" and thought "try telling that to 100s of women, I dont think youd know one end of a woman from the other"

TitsalinaBumSquash · 30/01/2011 17:16

Balls after a quick Google he is openly gay and in a ltr. Sad

TheFarSide · 30/01/2011 17:16

Sadly, Dr C is gay.

I LOVE this programme and echo everything Kitstwins says.

Some of the things people go through make me feel like a twat for worrying about the odd spot or blemish.

Looking forward to next week to find out about that MilaMae

TitsalinaBumSquash · 30/01/2011 17:16

All the fanicable (is that a word) people are gay...

FancyALittle · 30/01/2011 17:24

Urgh, I could never be a doctor. The tonsils are freaking me out.

And damn you, damn you all, for making me watch it.

TitsalinaBumSquash · 30/01/2011 17:26

The tonisls made me heave... her breath my have been vile.

FudgeGirl · 30/01/2011 17:27

Please can someone tell me if Friday's episode of Embarrassing Bodies is repeated on any of the Sky channels?

I would be most grateful (the searchable TV programme site I use is down for maintenance, as it usually always is!):)

(Oh, I always think Dr Christian looks like an Action Man figure that's been left too close to the electric fire. Nice from a distance, but on closer inspection has a misshapen face and is quite frankly a bit creepy looking.)

jojosmaman · 30/01/2011 17:32

Amazingly people do go on it just to be on the telly, there was a couple few years ago who were also on four weddings and some other reality type programme but made their first appearance on embarrassing bodies. I recognised them, saddo that I am!

FancyALittle · 30/01/2011 17:34

jojosmaman I spy them too... think I saw one who started life on 'Snog, Marry, Avoid' and then moved to 'Underage and Pregnant'.

dinosaurkisses · 30/01/2011 17:40

Jojo- was it that Ginger fellow and Ivy from Coach Trip with the buddy wedding on Four Weddings?

I took my dd on the show. pure desperation after years of being fobbed off by gp. no money is paid bit travel expenses, we needed one overnight for an early appointment and they paid for a hotel. my dds problem stated out seeming quite streight forward but they found quickly that thongs were more complex, she needed surgery for which the doc gave his time for free and the hospital footed the bill for the rest. the show has enabled my dd to get the treatment she needed and improved her life and future. since she went on the show several people have told me it helped them keep pushing for the right care for their children, both my howls have been met. dd is only 5 but lots of her friends and teachers watched, she was a celeb in school for a few days but almost a year on from it being first aired it is never mentioned.

roadkillbunny · 30/01/2011 18:28

sorry for no caps and errors, on phone as laptop broken.

valiumredhead · 30/01/2011 19:12

How can ANYONE fancy Dr C ???? He has such odd hair! Grin

PrettyCandles · 30/01/2011 19:17

Roadkillbunny, I know you didnt say anything about this, but I apologise if my 'exhibitionists' statement offends you. I have not seen any episodes with child patients. I had no idea that there were any. I'm sure you would not want that sort of exhibitionism for your dc!

I don't think any of the patients are exploited, they have chosen freely to expose themselves on TV. Maybe for altruistic reasons or maybe just to get their 15mins of fame. Nonetheless it's pretty grim if the only way they can get treatment is by exhibiting themselves.

amothersplaceisinthewrong · 30/01/2011 19:19

Is it true they had someone on last week whose problem was he couldn't wipe his arse properly.... my DS says this was the case. I can't bear the programme so refuse to watch.
