I know that MY yoga teacher is the best, but am I biased?

I did yoga today for the first time in a while - it was lovely and my yoga teacher is great

redpanda13 · 28/01/2011 20:18

Pilates is best for me. I have a condition called EDS which means I am very stretchy. Yoga could potentially be bad for me as it could make me overstretch. It could be very good but I don't want to take the risk. So I will stick with pilates.

MamaMary · 28/01/2011 20:23

Pilates is brilliant.

curlymama · 28/01/2011 20:25

I love bodybalance, a mixture of all of them! But I guess it's what suits the individual. I want to try a pilates class, but at the gym I go to there aren't any classes at the right time.

PersonalClown · 28/01/2011 20:28

Another Pilates here.
I have Scoliosis and I am pain free for the first time in months and standing straight for the first time in years!!

ifancyashandy · 28/01/2011 20:45

Pilates AND (Power) Yoga here!

Along with Zumba / Circuits / Swimming for the cardio

mum295 · 28/01/2011 22:08

Am a Pilates/Body Balance fan. Did Pilates remedial sessions to help with shoulder pain, then Pregnancy Pilates classes.

Tried Body Balance classes at new gym as the instructor advised me the Yoga and Pilates classes tend to be full of older ladies. Love the instructor, the music and that it doesn't take itself too seriously.

I don't suppose that just being fat, drinking too much wine and secretly snacking out of treat jar is an option on this thread?

PersonalClown · 28/01/2011 22:16

I do that too! Just substitute beer for the wine. Can't stand wine.

igetmorelovefromthecat · 28/01/2011 22:19

Pilates.

I go once a week and it makes me feel great afterwards. I carry dd2 around on my hip a lot and pilates is great for rebalancing everything.

I hate yoga. Tried it a few times and it just made me cross.

TheCrackFox · 28/01/2011 22:23

pilates

It doesn't feel that hard at the time but the next day I feel like I have done 1000 sit ups.

Frizzbonce · 28/01/2011 22:43

Whichever you do regularly.

I love yoga but have a nice jolly teacher. Yoga is supposed to be relaxing but I used to do Astanga yoga which can get very competitive, especially as the teacher reminded me of Rosa Klebb the villainess from James Bond. 'Deep breathing NOW!'

PersonalClown · 28/01/2011 22:50

Oh yes to the afterburn. My shoulders, arms and pecs are still hurting after Wednesday's class!

I swear my teacher is evil!

Talkinpeace · 29/01/2011 18:46

Pilates saved DH from having to have back surgery
Yoga makes me (marginally) less psychotic
Bodybalance is a reasonable replacement for ballet now that my knees are shot

And all of them let me burn calories that I replace with booze!

Love body balance! Great music and a wonderful relaxation at the end. Almost fell asleep at the end of today's class Blush

Talkinpeace · 29/01/2011 20:31

but the current abs track is a killer
plank and then hand out to the side just hurts...
and Friday's teacher totally fuddled all of us by starting the balance track on the left leg!
and is it me or are the routines MUCH harder than they were a few years ago?
