...to feel so emotional?

About it being my son's first birthday today? Of course, I am happy to celebrate his day but I'm also overly emotional and not sure why? I'm guessing it's because he's no longer a baby anymore and there's a chance I won't have another baby. Also, DP is still in bed and I had to deal with the school run and we haven't even opened his presents!

It was my DDs birthday yesterday. I thought I was going to be a mess as her birth still keeps me awake some nights, but we had a great day at the zoo! She will definitely be an only. YANBU, but have a lovely day Smile

My eldest is 6 today. I am in the bathroom about to put on waterproof mascara cos' all I want to do is cry ( happy and sad tears). When they are 5 yrs old I stupidly feel there's tiny a connection to toddlerhood... But now he really is a proper boy.

DP tells me to get a grip. And it's great, and I am so very proud of my boy but there's a lump in my throat as another year goes...

hi musical m' - i know how you feel, my dd has recently turned 8 and i too feel in part sad as i cannot have any more children, hopefully you will go on to have more but if you don't, don't fret, you learn to live with it (the ache/sadness!!) - i just focus on being lucky to have one at all!! enjoy his birthday, you can enjoy opening his gifts when he gets home from school, that is what we did!

YANBU, quite natural.

I was emotional with DDs first and second birthdays. I had a pretty nasty birth and it all came back to me, could something like that be a factor?

Get DP out of bed now, he is BU not to be up and about (unless he's ill, just finished a night shift oid).

I blubbed on the first birthday - totally understandable. Think I am always going to cry when I write DD's birthday cards.

YANBU. Lots of mums cry on their child's b'day, (mixed emotion of happiness and sadness). Let your DP know how you feel. Try and be positive of the chance that you will have another child.
