I know I'm being PFB but I genuinely feel a bittersweet sadness that DD (6months) had tonight gone to sleep in her own room for the first time. Blush

Some of my other new mum friends must think I'm a bit mad, as they moved their DC into own room as early as 8 weeks Hmm - each to their own etc.

I'm going to miss her beautiful little face smiling up at me when I wake up :)

AIBU? :)

I wish I had the room to put DD in her own room.
DD is 2.5 and still sharing my room, and I can't see that changing in the foreseeable. Sad

Yanbu
I don't get why some people are so desperate to get babies under six months out of their room when it is the best thing for them to be in with the parents

Timeforanap · 27/01/2011 23:34

YANBU, I've felt like that with all 4 of mine. Bittersweet is exactly the right word...we just moved DS3 (12months, just) into his own room at the weekend.

YANBU. Being with your baby at night can feel so lovely and they look so beautiful when they are sleeping. It's practical too - you never have to actually get out of bed if they need a feed, have a nightmare or wriggle out of the blankets.

Good luck with this - hope it all goes well. I can't really imagine what it must feel like to sleep apart from your 6 month old baby - DH and I have pushed a double mattress and a single mattress together on the floor in our room and we have loved all snuggling up together.

Our DS is 2.4 and still sleeping with us at the moment, but his "special very own bed" is being delivered tomorrow morning Smile Sad

We have only co-slept a few times, DD was in a crib next to our bed...but still...
She slept pretty well last night, came in at 7.30 for a feed then fell asleep next to me with her arm around me Grin ... sigh :(

YANBU Having children is full of bittersweet moments.

My dc are still in with me, 9 years later. The three of us are squished into a double bed. Dh works away during the week.

Trouble is I can't sleep properly without them now.

FindingStuffToChuckOut · 28/01/2011 11:30

DD is 3.2 & still in our room.
Not great for the sex life, but that aside we all love it.

Sarahlou8 · 28/01/2011 11:39

I've just put DD (14 weeks) in her own room - I'd be more than happy for her to stay with us but she's almost too big for her moses basket so I've put it inside the cot (which won't fit in our room) with the intention to move her into it properly in a couple of weeks.

Next to our bed, in place of her moses basket, is a video monitor - which I find an absolute Godsend, a huge reassurance and a comfort to know I can still glance at her whenever she or I stir in the night.
