to say 'no' to skid marks!

cookieraymond · 27/01/2011 14:26

Was having a conversation with some girl friends about potty training - we all have DS's approaching 3yrs - and I casually commented that when i met my DH I 'banned' skid marks as lazy behaviour and would be teaching my sons the same!

T'was said light heartly but I do mean it in the sense that I think it is lazy

But they both were quite suprised and acted as if to imply that they tollerate it quite often (from DH i can only assume, or themselves?!? Surely not?!?) and would not be actively stopping their son doing them (once they are old enough to know better obv.)

AIBU?? Surely it is just laziness and not a male (or female?!) necessity??

I am intrigued to know if I am in the minority!

No to water all over the seat - The hose 'head' is is just a little wider in diameter than the the hose, so it fits between seat and bum.

The water is quite high pressure (bout the same as a tap on full force) although you can vary the force. So no soap is necessary, as you direct spray over bits, in the direction of the pan.

As for the drying, a delicate little pat with tissue de toilette works wonders!

Actually - this has got me thinking. I would love one of these in my bathroom at home. Does anyone know of any companies in the london area who fits them. Or what the technical name for them is. Can't exactly waltz into Wickes and ask where they keep the 'Arse Sprays' Smile

PussinJimmyChoos · 27/01/2011 17:37

The plumbing in is quite simple - just an extra connection to the water flow and when the hose tap is turned on and the button pressed, the water comes out

I can confirm there is no drip drying Grin, just cleansing of bits, followed by buffing with tissue and it is so much cleaner if flo in town as well

When in the Middle East, the tissue has to go in a bin beside the loo as the plumbing doesn't take the same amount of tissue as it does here, so its much nicer to only use a very tiny bit of tissue and to already be clean when wiping

The water doesn't go everywhere as its very directional and I am quite sure my guests do not shove it up their arses..it gets cleaned regularly though, in the same way as the loo seat, loo handle etc

Hmmm wouldn't fancy your chances google'in 'arse spray' either emmanana PML Grin but if you do find anything do share, am quite interested in installing one of these contraptions myself!!

I appreciated this can be a medical condition, an apologise for any insensitivity, but rest assured with my DH it is just laziness!

It would appear our foreign neighbours have the right idea in my book, and its down to this generation of mums to make the cultural change in these boys Hmm Grin

I am seeing said friends again tomorrow, and will struggle not to attempt to raise the subject again to delve deeper into their submissive acceptance of this dirty habit...

Here you go!

MrsLevinson · 27/01/2011 22:11

Moist toilet paper - does the trick every time!

Tortoise · 27/01/2011 22:13

What the 'bum guns' need is an air attachment , like the handwashing machines in public toilets where you press one button for water/soap and one for air.
That would solve the problem of drying after!

OTheHugeManatee · 27/01/2011 22:15

I have learned so much from this thread.

Thank you MN. Grin

Thanks so much for thebidet shower link PussinJimmyChoos.

Didn't realise they were relatively easy and cheap to install. Revamping the bathroom later in the year, will definitely be getting one.
Just showed link to DH, he's all for it, and confessed to using using them whenever we have stopovers in Dubai in between long flights, to have a freshen up Biscuit

I seriously recommend them to anyone. Especially if kids get upset tummies. My neices and nephews (11,9,7) who live in Kuala Lumpur are totally confident and sensible using them.

rupert1 · 27/01/2011 23:09

Do you mean the pull out type hose/tap i have fitted to my kitchen sink, i might give it a go first thing in the morning.

Nefret · 28/01/2011 11:49

I am so glad I read this post, my husband has been after a bum shower for ages - he is Turkish and thinks it is disgusting that we don't have them over here! I will be showing him the link.

oldraver · 28/01/2011 12:14

Do they use cold water only or nice mixed warm water ?

PussinJimmyChoos · 28/01/2011 13:56

Depends how you plumb it in - ours is plumbed to the cold water which is ok in summer but in winter, it can be a bit Shock but at least it wakes the bits up! Grin

Never found just using the cold tap a problem really

AvonCallingBarksdale · 28/01/2011 14:12

What a fantastic thread! I have tears rolling down my face and have learned a lot. Would definitely like to spray, but will be content with moist wipes for now.

hillbilly · 28/01/2011 15:06

DH is from Iran and we have a hose - it's fab!

PussinJimmyChoos · 28/01/2011 16:45

Iran! How fabulous...that is on my 'to visit' list for the future! Have you been there and if so, how did you find it? Going off topic a bit I know! Grin

Sanesometimes1 · 28/01/2011 17:36

the very thought of quirting my nether regions with freezing cold water makes me proud of being British and not from one of these regions that the quirt is the norm !

melikalikimaka · 29/01/2011 12:16

Don't fancy cold water near mine today, it's freezing!

shadycharacter · 29/01/2011 13:50

Just been browsing the link and have found a "Top of the range shattaf shower" sounds up to the job to me! Do you have to have these installed by a plumber or is it a DH/DP job?
Grin

ShineyMoonInAPurpleSky · 29/01/2011 14:08

My dh has never had skidmarks and neither have I! I would be disgusted if I was doing the laundry and found that in his pants - and he would be the same with me.

I didn't even know that this was accepted as normal behaviour by some!

Virgowoo · 29/01/2011 17:01

My Arab DH imported a hose attachment for our loo - didnt realise you could get them here. Those chrome ones look a lot nicer.

Its true that you have to have a hardy constitution to use them in the winter if connected to the toilet cold water supply - eek! Perhaps stick to the moist toilet paper if its subzero outside.

Boo to people with dirty bums. Cant believe anyone would put up with handling poostained undies unless they came with a serious apology or a medical reason.

firstforthought · 29/01/2011 22:39

we also have a hose dp is Egyptian, he plumbed it in himself into the cold tap- too cold for me. Stick with a nice warm jug of water - the old fashioned way!

firstforthought · 29/01/2011 22:39

should be "as dH is"

TiggyD · 29/01/2011 23:42

Is the "Say 'NO' to skidmarks" campaign going to release a charity single?

Please wipe better and avoid all those skiddies,
For the sake of your loved ones, your wife and you kiddies.
Keep wiping and wiping 'til you get every bit.
You don't want your undies with brown stripes of shit!
