To spend money I don't have on skin treatment

I've spent £450 on botox and collagen boosters and I've no money. I woke up in a sweat last night thinking about the money and my penance for being so bloody vain. I might be having an early mid life crisis. It could make me really happy though (I've not had it yet). Someone please take away my guilt.

if you cant afford it you cant have it

very simple,no brainer

saffyronron · 26/01/2011 21:42

Fabby, yes probably more to it but maybe just vanity. I'm thinking it might make me more attractive to men :) I've been single for bloody years! A few of my friends are having it done, some of them a few years younger than me (early 30's). It feels a lot more sociably acceptable now to have 'work' done. There's definitely something deeper going on in terms of the guilt I feel. It just doesn't feel right but I still want it - if that makes sense.

Its very effective. Its just that people dont scrutinise your face in that way. You might think everyone is zoning in on how your forehead moves or how deep the wrinkles are, but they are not. It doesn't mean you wont look better for having it done or that they wont notice you look better overall - its a subtle thing (or should be)

Also, my husband, well, where do I start Grin he's so unobservant. New bag darling? What this I've had it for ages Grin

AnyFuleKno · 26/01/2011 21:46

why have you paid before you have it done? that sounds well dodge

Chil1234 · 26/01/2011 21:48

YANBU If you can't afford it, it won't make you happy when you get the bill. And if you are expecting it to cure a midlife crisis, it won't do that for very long either... and then you'll be looking for another £450 to do it again.

Find ways to be happy in the skin you can afford to be in....

Chil1234 · 26/01/2011 21:49

YABU I meant, of course...

TrappedinSuburbia · 26/01/2011 21:49

Aw Saffy, im in the same position as you lol, I can't really afford it either but its not as steep as I only get the botox.
I've got to really budget as well, then get the odd guilt pang about what I SHOULD have spent the money on, but one look at my smooth face soon dispells the guilt.
Shallow, yes. Vain, yes. Selfish, yes.
Its really the only time/money I spend on myself though and to me its worth it.

saffyronron · 26/01/2011 21:56

Trapped, I don't spend much money on myself either, but I do love the thought of having nice smooth skin. It was always the most flattering part of me, people would always comment on how nice my skin was. I don't want to go mad and have all kinds of treatments done, I just want to maintain the skin I have for as long as possible. I don't get out much - can you tell! I should be spending my money on more worthwhile things though - just no getting away from it.

Ah me too, but I look at it as a long term investment, your stopping wrinkley skin dead in its tracks. I call it maintenance as well lol.

I've noticed, on those makeover programmes, that the last thing they do is always a new hairdo - and it's always the hair that makes the most difference.

If/as you are short of cash, and want a brand new you, I'd recommend going for an expensive hairdo at a quarter of the price of fillers.

I had fillers once, and no-one noticed, so I never bothered again!

deliciousdevilwoman · 27/01/2011 12:54

Tatty speaks much sense!

Similarly, I had it, and my husband didn't know-at first, until I decided to come clean. I didn't look frozen-just fresher. Now, I have it twice a year at most, alongside the odd IPL collagen boost facial.
You will be fine.
