DH is 40 this year shares birthday with close friend, so plan to have a joint celebration. This friend usually has good taste and is not hard up. He thinks it's ok for the food to come from Iceland and can't understand my horror.....so AIBU?!

Having been to Iceland (the country), puffin is very tasty, though better as a main course than a starter.

The fermented shark, on the other hand, tastes like shit smells.

I shall buy one and let you know how delicious (or otherwise) it is!! I'm trying to imagine it....but can't!!

herladyship · 26/01/2011 22:04

Oh I had the puffin - tasted like liver! I'm with echt on the fermented shark. That's just a joke to get tourists to barf.

Iceland the supermarket, as extolled by no lesser culinary genius than Kerry Katona, is not my first choice for party food. However, if it is going to have to be that way (I presume you aren't going to cater it yourself) make damn sure there is a lot of drink on hand. No one will care. More importantly you won't care.
