Sorry for this, it got a bit long!
My son loves being a Badger. It's his "favourite thing ever!", his best friends are all there, he loves his uniform and badges, and loves finding St. John's Ambulance logos (particularly excited to find it on the Tardis!).
Last night at their weekly meeting, we found out that the local sett is set to close at the February half term (with hopes of re-opening in September, though nothing can be guarateed). Apparently it is happening across Derbyshire (we're in the Derby Sett) and several other counties due to dwindling numbers (though there are discussion of budget constraints). We parents are making get together plans for the kids in the mean time, but my mind wanders to what, if anything, we could do to either stop it closing or make sure it comes back in September (Not only for my son, but his best friend whose disabilities exclude him from many of the other usual extra curricular activities). There are two primary schools within 5 minutes, and the city centre (with the giant Westfield) is in line of sight from the building and would be perfect for passing out advertising pamplets or something that the St. John Ambulance staff wouldn't have time for .
I really want to do something, for many of the kids it's one of the few things they can do (as it's only £1 a week and in a central location), but worry I'll come across as a nutter if I suggest this to the other parents/the SJA staff.
AIBU or nuts to think this is a good idea - to pass out pamphlets or arrange to have signs near the schools/shopping centre?
