what has an adequate education got to do with being posh Confused

are you really saying GCSE's are only for ladies what lunch?

SecretNutellaFix · 26/01/2011 15:58

ME for a start. I have a couple of good gcse's but that is it. I delibebratly failed my a-levels so mum wouldn't have to worry about the costs of university.

However, I am quite well read, articulate and take an interest in the world around me. If I don't know, I will go find out.

I work in a dead end job, and dh and I are trying for our first baby.

wonderstuff · 26/01/2011 15:59

Being educated is part of being middle class though innit?
Most people on here been to uni and everyfin.

Not many of the proper working class mums wot I meet at my school on 'ere.

ILoveItWhenYouCallMeBoo · 26/01/2011 16:00

you taking the piss now wonderstuff?

GMajor7 · 26/01/2011 16:00

No.

GMajor7 · 26/01/2011 16:01

It is perfectly possible to be working class, or to have been raised on a council estate and to be intelligent and articulate.

You are talking shite.

waitwhat · 26/01/2011 16:03

I grew up im Basingstoke too innit! Live in Reading now which is just as rough.[bgrin]

waitwhat · 26/01/2011 16:04

wonderstuff · 26/01/2011 16:05

Would I?
[shrugs]
I don't believe I said that being raised on a council estate = dumb and inarticulate.
Bear

wonderstuff · 26/01/2011 16:06

No waitwhat surely Reading is much rougher?

waitwhat · 26/01/2011 16:08

I think so wonder. I live 5 mins from the centre and it can get hairy!
I certainly felt a little safer wondering round Baso than here

Bunbaker · 26/01/2011 16:09

Hi walkinZombie
I'm just up the road from you near sunny Barnsley, and I'm not posh either. I had never heard of Boden until I started reading mumsnet.

waitwhat · 26/01/2011 16:09

And i miss festival place *sniff

wonderstuff · 26/01/2011 16:13

I remember Baso before festival place - was well rough then! I do have John Lewis envy - have to visit Reading every now and then to get my haberdashery fix.

mumbar · 26/01/2011 16:17

Nah not posh here - from ust outside Portsmouth. I'd never heard of Boden before here either. Still don't actually know - think its clothes though??

wonderstuff · 26/01/2011 16:18

Don't pretend mumbar

Hullygully · 26/01/2011 16:21

I am extraordinarily posh, but I don't tell people or make a fuss about it because I want to fit in.

wonderstuff · 26/01/2011 16:25

I aspire to be posh (ave a posh ouse at least)
innit

wonderstuff · 26/01/2011 16:26

I am poor yet classy

TallulahdoesthehulainHawaii · 26/01/2011 16:41

I don't even aspire to be posh, just ordinarily scummy would do Smile
