......to ask if her Toddler could play with DDs Kitten because "he'll probably just throw a Tantrum if I say no" & I thought you wouldn't mind, because if you like Kittens you probably like kids too" ShockShock.....

(our front window faces onto the street & both our cats love to sit in it & play cute for passers by, both rescue Cats, so not sure if it reminds them of their old CPL pen, or they are both just feline TartsGrin)

she was polite enough, but I'm still gobsmacked at the brass nerve Shock

fedupofnamechanging · 25/01/2011 10:34

WimpleOfTheBallet · 25/01/2011 10:35

Well...it depends on your area. Where I live it wouln't be totally unreasonable...it's a friendy place.

JBellingham · 25/01/2011 10:37

Ask her if your child can play with her car, after all if she has a car she probably likes children too.

Dylthan · 25/01/2011 10:37

Yes what did you say? Grin

TrillianAstra · 25/01/2011 10:37

I like kittens much more than I like children.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 25/01/2011 10:37

You should of gave her scary eyes, held out your hands and said in spooky voice "yeeeeeaass, leave her with me and come back in a few hours"
and then do weirdneck twitches.

She would of soon scarpered.

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 25/01/2011 10:38

That is so weird. I'd have been all Hmm. And then

frgr · 25/01/2011 10:40

I like cats much much more than other people's children.

What an odd request!

manicbmc · 25/01/2011 10:40

?????? Mad Grin

Dd and I will stroke any old cat we find on our travels but to ask to come into someone's home to avoid a tantrum? wtf?

gorionine · 25/01/2011 10:41

Where the kittens inside the house or outside (did not understan)?

If inside it is really akward. Although I hate my children to have tantrums I will let them have one over knocking on someone's door. The poor woman must have been quite desperate!

Lol @ AmazingBouncingFeret!

rockinhippy · 25/01/2011 10:48

PMSL @ some of the replies Grin

Yes I said no, had a rough night (DH illHmm, so not in the mood to suffer fools, Blush so actually I came over all hoity toity & up my own @rse & said

'most certainly not, you'd do FAR better to teach him young that he can't have everything he wants, or you are going to be in for a very rough ride"

& no, she looked quite sane.....I think that was the most shocking bitConfused ...she did look quite young though,(& a bit ChavvyBlush but I am STILL out & out gobsmacked she would knock on a complete strangers door & askShock

made me wonder if I was a bit just meanConfused

Be warned you will end up with half the neighbourhood in your hosue if you say yes. I speak from bitter experience.

rockinhippy · 25/01/2011 10:49

Sorry you're right, not clear...

the Kitten was INSIDE the house, they don't go out that side of the house due to main roads

kreecherlivesupstairs · 25/01/2011 11:22

How peculiar. I do have to say, my Sil (who is quite quite bonkers) did make an appointment with her next door neighbour but one for DD to go and play with their new kittens. At least she vaguely knew them.

JamieLeeCurtis · 25/01/2011 11:25

Am Shock at the tantrum-avoidance argument. Nice for children to play with kittens, but I'd have thought you'd make someone's aquaintance before asking.

Vallhala · 25/01/2011 11:28

I wouldn't let anyone else's toddler play with a kitten, far less a bloody strangers because her poor darling will have a tantrum otherwise! Cheeky mare!

Good on ya, rockin, you were far more polite than I'd have been.

sarahitaly · 25/01/2011 11:31

It may have been a ruse to get in the house.

Leave you distracted with child petting kitty, ask if she can use the loo, quick rifle in your handbag and bye bye cash and credit cards.

Anniegetyourgun · 25/01/2011 11:35

I'd have told her that she'd have more than a tantrum on her hands if one of the cats scratched the child. They might look cute and they might even be nice natured, but cats have prickles and toddlers do startling things to small animals. And then, of course, it would be all your fault!

Punkatheart · 25/01/2011 11:38

Sadly there has been a spate of incidents concerning a young woman calling at houses in our area - either looking for a lost 'cat' 'ball' or other nonsense. There is usually a crying child involved.

JamieLeeCurtis · 25/01/2011 11:39

God - I didn't even think of that - it's pretty likely, now I think about it

Vallhala · 25/01/2011 11:41

In view of what others have said here about it being a possible ruse perhaps it would be wise for you to notify your community police officer/local station or e-cops.

I'm still Shock at it all!

KittaKatta · 25/01/2011 11:42
