Stumbled across :This and was horrified by some of the comments!

OK so a weatherspoon pub would not be a place i would choose to go specifically to sit and breastfeed my baby, but if i was stuck then maybe i might have.

I cannot believe that there are people out there, some of them women, who think this is disgusting. :(

good point, i didnt even think about the salvation army one, more that if it had been me id probably just have carried on to hollywood park and nipped into macdonalds. may try the new cafe next time in through.

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 24/01/2011 17:43

It has a tv thing in window showing their birthday cakes, there is also a rather prominant sign in wethys window with the rules clearly shown....Pah !

brightlightsandpromises · 24/01/2011 17:47

I suspect it was probably a case of her asking for a drink, being told she couldnt have child with her unless buying food, then saying, oh but i want to feed him.

I really only started thread in order to highlight the vile comments that were being made.

I know thaaaaaaaaaaattttttttt, but why go to the paper ??

Rules are rules, if he'd have been bottlefed she still won't have been allowed in, because then you'll probably get people coming in with toddlers saying 'oh but it's cold, they only want a drink' She's made herself look daft imo, the comments are uncalled for tho

Still a pissy old mens pub [bgrin]

AmberEyes · 24/01/2011 18:21

Now theres an idea Apocalypse.LOL

FreudianSlippery · 24/01/2011 18:21

I used to specifically go to 'spoons to feed DS, if we were in town wanting to eat!

never had a problem. :)

FreudianSlippery · 24/01/2011 18:25

I don't understand the article. You don't have to have a meal to take kids there, as long as you are in the family section. I've certainly taken mine in there just for drinks Confused

it's a pub, not a restaurant, why would she need to eat?

have to say though, I'm glad it's about a youngish mum - there is still a prevailing assumption that younger mums don't BF, that's a whole other thread though...

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 24/01/2011 18:36

In that wetherspoons you must order food to be allowed in with dcs. It's always been that way, I flew in there with my friend and her dd a few weeks back, caught in a huge downpour, we only wanted a hot chocolate, but were told we had to buy a meal, which is fair enough....

Why she chose a pissy old mens pub when the lovely, clean (breastfeeding friendly) sally army cafe is directly opposite, is beyond me.

ILoveItWhenYouCallMeBoo · 24/01/2011 18:53

actually freudian i think it has made it look like 'young mums are jumped up with their sense of entitlement'

PinkElephant73 · 24/01/2011 19:12

I have been told in a Wetherspoons that children are only allowed in if you are having a meal, so I am surprised that Eddie Gershon, the company spokesperson quoted in the article says this is not their company policy.

its nothing to do with licensing laws btw.

tbh its not the nicest environment for families anyway.
