To enjoy spending the day in PJs

and to let my DCs stay in PJs on Sundays if we are not going out?

Following on from a thread in parenting where people are disgraced that a Dad doesn't get the children dressed into "day" clothes at the weekend even if staying at home.

What's a onesie? Isn't it a babygrow?

LadyFannyofBumStreet · 24/01/2011 23:22

[grin]@baby grow. No, this is the sort of onesie I am talking about.

Saturday in our house is most usually a duvet day.

Last saturday i got into my trackie bottoms and t-shirt (duvet day clothes) and put trackies and t shirt on my DS2.

Told my DS1 to change out of his PJ's but he asked if he could stay in them since we were most definitely NOT going out (wind howling, rain lashing off windows) and i couldn't come up with a reasonable argument why he shouldn't so he stayed in them all day - changed into a fresh pair for going bed that night though...

fishtankneedscleaning · 24/01/2011 23:55

YANBU. When OH is working a Sunday I pray for rain so me and LO's can have a duvet day without feeling guilty about getting dressed. We are busy 6 days a week and so we all enjoy a PJ day doing nothing, on a Sunday.

We all bath and change into clean PJ's before bedtime.

I draw the line at going shopping in PJ's though!

mackereltaitai · 25/01/2011 00:10

Urgh. No, unless you're ill. A day in PJs seems a nice idea at 7.30am but it makes me feel headachey and unpleasant. Also, doesn't it mean you have to have the heating on all day, if you're just sitting - when do you get any air into the house? Proper clothes and some proper fresh air and exercise, that's the ticket.

TheMonster · 25/01/2011 18:41

That is a baby grow, albeit and adult sized ones.

TheMonster · 25/01/2011 19:31

Why do I have a random 'and' in my post? strange.

CockneySparra · 25/01/2011 19:37

Hardly ever get to have PJ days as my 5 yr old and 2 yr old need fresh air and exercise by about 11am every day or they go stir-crazy.... but by God I love them.

When I was single I used to spend all Sunday in my PJs in bed, surfacing only to have a bath and grab some food. Bliss.

eatyourveg · 25/01/2011 19:43

definitely YANBU

All households should have jarmie days as they are known in our house. We have them regularly.

TeaOneSugar · 25/01/2011 19:50

We often have a PJ day on a Saturday, why not?

It's the only day we can get up when we feel like it and just potter around the house - I love a good potter Grin

I really must show my cousin this thread.

Her and her FDS had a PJ day, played board games, DVD, and roast dinner. Both had bubble baths, fresh pjs, then me and DS went round in pjs for dvd and pringles. Grin

There was a storm raging outside the whole day.

Her FDS then 11yo (mild SN) told SW about his 'great day'. SW told off my cousin - he should be getting dressed after breakfast, he has come from a neglected past and needs to be shown love and stability. Hmm

She is now his legal guardian. Grin

Maggie1973 · 26/01/2011 17:27

I love having a PJ day, but i have to have a shower and change into clean PJ's.

Stangirl · 26/01/2011 18:15

I have been having a PJ day today. Well more of a half PJ day as I've only had my top on. I did put a dressing gown over the top after I opened the ground floor curtains this morning and 2 people were walking by and got an eyeful. DD was in clothes but last Sunday we both stayed in our night clothes. I have also watched 3 episodes of CSI. God I love maternity leave.

nannynobnobs · 26/01/2011 18:27

I don't get the 'must get dressed and go out every day' thing either. I like my house, it's winter, I have to go out most days so if I get the chance to stay in in my dressing gown/PJs/trackies I will!

pizzadelivery · 27/01/2011 00:15

'jama/duvet days are the best! I love them Grin Especially as we seem to actally spend more time together and talk more. The whole day tends to feel slower, no rush to get things done or be somewhere
