Sending DS to school tomorrow after he threw up tonight?

He was ill Thursday, vomited all night and again Friday afternoon.

He's been fine since then, eating like a horse, no signs of any diarrhea. Then tonight, after eating some dinner he threw up again. He's been okay since about 6.30 pm, no more vomiting.

Okay, so really IABU to send him tomorrow, I'll keep him home.

If there's no more vomiting incidents, is it okay to send him back Tuesday? Our school have not issued any guidelines about this, I'm only going from what I've read on here. I don't want to keep him off unneccesarily but obviously don't want to risk him passing around any bugs he might have.

Normally it 48 hrs after last dose of vomiting. I'd keep my kids off for vomiting. Colds send them. Vomiting no. They will feel exhausted and miserable as well as pass on germs

Tuesday. If he's not vomited again.

YABU. My neice obv still atttended school while her brother was having chemo. Had she brought home serious bugs he could have died.

Tues is okay. It should be at least 24 hours after the last inicdence of vommiting or diarrhea. Some schools prefer 48 hours, but since tomorrow is a definate no no you can always ring and ask.

24 illness clear hours since the last episode of D or V is the rule at our school.

Did he eat too much, too fast, happy after having been ill for a few days, or does he still seem ill?

I'd probably send him, they can always send him home again. But my mum was nasty like that Grin

spongebob, he's fine in himself, but then he always is a happy little boy. Even on Friday he was running around and playing right up until he threw up again. If he seemed ill I obviously wouldn't even think about it.

DooinMeCleanin, that's a good idea. If nothing else it means I know what the policy is. Very sensible.

Not a school, but a Childminder, I give The HPA Guidelines for Schools and Childcare to parents and stick to it.

Thank you everyone for replying, I really appreciate it. It sounds daft but I've been stewing over the right thing to do, when really I knew I couldn't send him tomorrow.

Brilliant link shoshe, thank you, I'll keep that Smile

He was sick again last night, so it was obvious he couldn't go in. I checked with his school and their policy is 48 hours, so it looks like Wednesday at the earliest.

He's had two bowls of cereal and toast with peanut butter this morning. He's asking for more but I think he'll have to wait a while just see if he keeps this down.
