To want to know why some posters withdraw their own post

Am I being naive? Why would you post something and then change your mind?

OP posts:
JamieLeeCurtis · 24/01/2011 09:44

OP was possibly a known troll and that was why it was pulled. Sometimes people start threads, which draw other people into revealing intimate info, so MN pulls it

HAVE NO IDEA if that was the case with the one you refer to

pooka · 24/01/2011 11:24

Thanks JLC. Did wonder what the back story was. :)

I do it every bloody day.

mayorquimby · 24/01/2011 13:10

"MN don't generally delete posts without a valid reason."

had one of mine deleted yesterday, any way I can find out the reason for this?

AnyFucker · 24/01/2011 13:14

MQ...email MNHQ and ask them.

They are usually pretty good at getting back to you

Although they may just quote the "policy" at you, which is all over the talk boards.

BTW...I was puzzled at your deletion too.

LaWeaselMys · 24/01/2011 13:16

MNHQ normally reply if you ask them about deletions.

I've had thread pulled because it was a desperately need advice, but also never want the person I'm talking about to see this.

I've had one 'don't know what the fuck I'm talking about' post deleted at my request, but it was a really sensitive issue and my advice was terrible, so think they took pity.

Cheers, will do.

insertexpletive · 24/01/2011 13:23

Sorry maryz but that just made me Grin

AnyFucker · 24/01/2011 13:25

I remember that, mary

your outrage was most amusing

UnquietDad · 24/01/2011 13:25

I posted a joke recently and realised about two second later that some people who had been in a particular situation might find it in bad taste, so I messaged MN Towers and asked for it to be removed. Then I was plagued with PMS asking what it was!!

I had one removed before because I had identified myself by mistake and with that information because of what I do would have made it easy for anyone to find out where I lived and my phone number.

Honeydragon · 24/01/2011 13:39

I withdrew my post after I copy and pasted a letter for perusal/help and like a fool left some of my personal details on with it.

......and not one, not one of you buggers bothered to stalk me in a unsavory manner!

jessiealbright · 24/01/2011 13:54

I asked for a post to be removed, because I thought I'd been unnecessarily abusive in bring up someone's past posting history.

CoffeeGoneColdAgain · 24/01/2011 14:04

I asked for a post to be removed as I practically gave away my home address on a thread about a missing person. Didn't want any rl friends to know my name on here.

UnquietDad · 24/01/2011 15:48

Plagued with PMs.

Not PMS.

:)

message withdrawn at request of little blue people who live in my radiators.

TiggyD · 24/01/2011 22:04

I withdrew once after double posting and once after I quoted somebody who then withdrew their post because it was too personal.

Mists · 24/01/2011 22:06

Yup, usually wine. Or being overtired. Or both.

HQ are very good about that sort of thing IME Blush
