AIBU to feel decidedly odd about buying my 19mth old DD a "boyfriend cardigan" and some "harem pants" ?

The clothes themselves were lovely but why couldn't they just be called " stripey cardi" and "baggy trousers"?

Or am I being OTT?

Now you come to mention it,

Yes it is a bit odd to have things with those names for children.

YANBU.

And, fuck me at those M&S harem pants Shock

Vallhala · 22/01/2011 13:26

You're troubled by this? It makes you feel "decidedly odd"?

Really?

Good grief! Hmm

TheManWhoSoldtheWorld · 22/01/2011 13:43

YABU for putting a 19 month old in a boyfriend cardigan and harem pants.

KalokiMallow · 22/01/2011 13:47

"Yes it is a bit odd to have things with those names for children."

So should they rename clothing terms for different age groups? Confused

ISNT · 22/01/2011 13:53

Why are you picking my post out? I'm not the only one who thinks it a bit odd.

KalokiMallow · 22/01/2011 13:59

Because I'm too lazy to scroll back Blush nothing personal

ISNT · 22/01/2011 14:13
Grin

I am trying to think of what I think.

I just think it's odd. That's it really. The associations of harems and boyfriends seem odd applied to a baby.

ISNT · 22/01/2011 14:14

Mind you I did Hmm at the skinny jeans on offer for babies in mothercare.

And I Hmm even more when they were the only ones I could find that were halfway decent and so bought them. She looks ludicrous. A toddler with a huge nappy, and skinny jeans, is not a good combo Grin

PigTail · 22/01/2011 16:18

Skinny jeans on a baby are WRONG! Grin

ISNT · 22/01/2011 16:59

Yes they are.

Why do they even make them? They look stupid and are a PITA to get on and off. And now I show up as a positive in their sales figures, because there wasn't anything else Angry Grin

Psammead · 22/01/2011 17:11

Harem pants are perfect toddler clothes. Nice and loose and roomy. Interested to know what trousers are more appropriate.

pointydug · 22/01/2011 17:47

"So should they rename clothing terms for different age groups?"

Yes. Longer length cardigan. That would do for kids. Nothing to do with their boyfriend.

tyler80 · 22/01/2011 17:49

Where are all these boyfriends wearing cardigans anyhow?

I don't know any cardigan wearing men under the age of 60, am I really out the loop on this one?

pointydug · 22/01/2011 17:51

I think you're missing the point, tyler Grin

BuzzLightBeer · 22/01/2011 18:13

we need to rename styles of clothes if they are for kids because you don't like the implication that toddlers have boyfriends or are possibly concubines? And its M&S that has the problem?

Hmm O-Kaaaay then.

KalokiMallow · 22/01/2011 18:41

tyler You'd be surprised! Try looking up scenester fashion.

MirandaWest · 22/01/2011 18:57

DH is 35 and wears cardigans

doughnutty · 22/01/2011 19:04

Was the desciption on the garment or what came up on the till/receipt?

Personally I think YAB a little precious and therefore U.
