For keep emailing me asking about my return date 8n a round about way, desperate for me not to come back, which is not an option, when I know full well shes been crap, everyone has told me, so they wouldn't keep her anyway!

I'm just fed up of her and don't know how ill stick the week handover when I go back.... She keeps enailing basically trying to break my spirir, playing on the emotiobal card " full time, don't think I could leave my baby, how hard its going to be" etc yes I know all that, but I also know your after my job love! She's been doing this from day dot, really insensitively testing the water, I am going back, she's leaving, end of!

How do o tell het politely to do one and leave me in peqce for my final 6 weeks leave?!

agree delete emails, trim, its only 5 days and you can then never see her again

at least she is shit at job!

I'm going to disagree and say it depends if you gave her any idea when you would be back. Although you are under no legal obligation to do so, as someone who has covered a couple of maternity leave posts in recent years, it's really unsettling not knowing whether the person is coming back in three or four weeks' time or not. She may have seen another post advertised and doesn't know if she will still be covering your job or not (this is the position I was in). I don't think it is unreasonable of her to want to know if you haven't left any clear plans in place (even if, legally, it may be).

Email her saying

Dear X

I will be returning to work and would appreciate it if you would refrain from harassing me about this. Should you continue to do so I will be forced to ask The Boss to ask you to stop.

Love and kisses,
iamusually...

lalalonglegs, that may be true if it weren't for the fact that "She keeps emailing basically trying to break my spirir, playing on the emotiobal card 'full time, don't think I could leave my baby, how hard its going to be' "

that's not trying to find out a firm return date.

lalalonglegs · 21/01/2011 18:42

For some reason, I didn't register that detail Blush. OK, she's a bitch.

I am currently contracted as maternity cover for someone I know. The contract is fixed term until her estimated date of return. She's free to alter that date, but my understanding is that she must give six weeks notice to allow the employers to fulfill their contractual obligations. Beyond that, to be frank, it's none of my goddamn business. I'm here to do the best job I can and make it easy for her to come back. Even though I know her, I wouldn't contact her other than pass on well wishes or to drop in a present. She's on leave, FFS!
