What? That's not recognisable grammar! Shut up.

Aaaargh.

OP posts:
MadreInglese · 21/01/2011 13:29

Eh?

RipMacWinkle · 21/01/2011 13:29

Agree, have heard this a few times recently.

It's just poor.

blouseenthusiast · 21/01/2011 13:30

What does it mean? I have wondered...

suzikettles · 21/01/2011 13:31

YANBU it makes my teeth itch.

I suppose it's short for "Oh sorry, I take responsibility for the bad thing that I did. It belongs to me - it's my bad [thing]"

Why not just say sorry.

BelieveInLife · 21/01/2011 13:31

Hate it.

bubblewrapped · 21/01/2011 13:32

Oh I hate that bloody expression.

My stepdaughter (aged 28!) uses it on her FB page all the time and I do a sort of low growl every time I see it...

Its some sort of americanism that is very annoying.

Blacksand · 21/01/2011 13:32

I don't mind it but i hate

FAIL

OH FAIL

EPIC FAIL

etc....

MadreInglese · 21/01/2011 13:34

why can't peeps just speak proper these days? Grin

bubblewrapped · 21/01/2011 13:35

The latest one I have noticed is people putting "fact" after a comment.

ie Its very cold today. Fact.

Arghhhhhh..

Maylee · 21/01/2011 13:35

I can live with "my bad".

The other day a grown man texted me to ask me out for a drink and it was in teenage text speak (he is a professional man, nearing 30). It was all "tonite" and "gud" Angry

I didn't reply Grin

WowOoo · 21/01/2011 13:38

We know an ancient american guy who uses it sometimes to say 'my mistake'. On him it's very quirky.

Haven't heard it over here yet. Can't imagine it without the deep south accent.

TrillianAstra · 21/01/2011 13:40

I agree with Maylee.

Way to fail to chat up a woman, stupid texting man.

Chesticles · 21/01/2011 13:41

It's on a lot of american sitcoms. Scrubs for instance. And it's VERY annoying

cunexttuesonline · 21/01/2011 13:43

I like epic fail!

DrNortherner · 21/01/2011 13:47

I had this at work last week, spotted a mistake when proof reading, emailed the author to advise and they emailed back saying "Thanks. My bad"

I was like "eh? They've not finished their sentence, what does this mean?!!>

A 21 year old colleague educated me.........

JimmyTarbuck · 21/01/2011 13:47

Even my toddler wouldn't say such an inane thing.

CockneySparra · 21/01/2011 13:47

'My bad' is ancient. I am 33 and we used it as teenagers. It's an Americanism, from hip hop-inspired slang, and just means 'my bad move/ my bad judgement' sort of thing.

I really don't mind it.

nickelbabysnatcher · 21/01/2011 13:48
Angry

grrrr.

i hate it.

BovrilonToast · 21/01/2011 13:51

I can't even read the thread because the phrase irritates me so much Grin

AMumInScotland · 21/01/2011 13:52

"My bad" has been around for ages. We currently have a lot of "epic fail"s in our house. I like the fact that language changes all the time, it would be very dull if slang couldn't change over time!

Maylee · 21/01/2011 13:55

Trill he really was a stupid texting man...

BettyCash · 21/01/2011 13:55

I think the expression is SORRY... 'actually'...

motheroftwoboys · 21/01/2011 13:58

The one that drives me insane is "sick" as in good. DS1 (20) says it all the time.

fatpantsandgladrags · 21/01/2011 14:01

DH says it all the time. Hate it.

StealthPolarStuckSpaceBar · 21/01/2011 14:01

I hate it, and its opposite "it's all good"
