To think i have the bestest DD ever

Well, i have two of the bestest DDs, but last night the bin man came for his money. I wasn't expecting him so i said outloud, "oh dear, i dont know if i have any money in the house" it woudlnt have mattered, paid double next time. Often do that, its only £2.50 (i'd pay more! miracle workers so they are) So anyway, scrabbled around in my purse for change. Meantime, DD gone upstairs emptied her piggy bank and brought down, well, about 30pence in change Grin. Shes only 5 bless her.

Money tight this week, had a few discussions with DP about it Hmm she obviously overheard.

Bless her heart [proud]

Aww very sweet - she's obv a lovely little girl. I can see even more how nice it must be to think that today, seeing as my DS has been a complete bugger and I can't wait to get him into bed so I can sink a bottle of wine reflect on the day.

brightlightsandpromises · 20/01/2011 19:21

I'm just dreading when my cleaners put their prices up, there are other bin cleaners in other roads who charge £8.99 not that is an extravagance too far - i would happily pay a fiver though, it would mean either me having to run hosepipr through house even though it doesn't fit, or running through with bowls of water or dragging bin through house We have extremely small front garden too so dont want to tip minging bin water out in it really.

We once had maggots in the bin before we had cleaners Blush

bright Please accept my apologies I didn't figure out why you where paying the bin men.
Hey £2.50 isn't a lot. To tell you the truth if we can pay out on these little luxeries (me having my eyebrows threaded) This is going to create huge problems for 1000 of families. So your DD is a darling and you are a star for giving someone a job Smile

brightlightsandpromises · 20/01/2011 20:08

starbear, nothing to apologise for!

Thats the thing isn't it with enterprise, it works for everyone if kept at sensible prices - you have to admire someone who came up with the idea of cleaning someones bin out, its a minging job but with their equipment its not so bad and i reckon its a bloody good business idea. At £2.50 a go (not even the price of a takeaway coffee) people will cough up. I wouldnt be able to afford it if they charged much more than that tbh.

Thats the thing with everything going up due to VAT etc, people will cut back on luxuries and small busines, whih could be the backbone of british industry, will suffer :( Don't get me stareted!!! lol

Oh OP, I've got the bestest DD too. She wouldn't have enough for Nigel though - he comes and cleans my oven!!! Biscuit shield at the ready Grin.

brightlightsandpromises · 20/01/2011 22:27

Well, my oven mings to high heaven! lolol my bin is probably cleaner! Nigel eh?

LoveMyGirls · 20/01/2011 22:37

I just chuck a washing up bowl full of hot soapy water in when its been emptied, just every now and again (not that often at all) and it sits in it til the next week so it has had time to soak and then when it gets emptied the minging bin water goes in the truck with the rubbish tbh I hadn't given this much thought.

I don't think I'd pay someone to clean my bin out once a month but I do respect the fact you are giving someone a job.

Your dd sounds really sweet I have to say YANBU. I also think my dd's are the best dd's ever too Smile

igetmorelovefromthecat · 21/01/2011 00:18

People clean wheelie bins?

I didn't know they could be cleaned.

Theonlyexception · 21/01/2011 00:28

That's lovely op. You should be very proud of your little girl. It's so heartwarming when they show themselves growing :)

HelenaCC · 21/01/2011 00:39

News to me that some people are enterprising enough to get bin cleaning rounds... I get dh to do that kind of thing but if it stinks, then we just chuck in kettles of hot water & something like bleach... It's not a monthly task but hey for £2.50 who cares?! If you're so skint your 5 y.o is offering to help out, there are better ways to spend money. Still yeah, think it's great you've got such a commendably caring/ sharing dd... Well done :)

pissedrightoff · 21/01/2011 00:41

Aww what a wee darling. That's lovely OP

kreecherlivesupstairs · 21/01/2011 08:16

Yours is sweet, but my DD aged around 4 went around our flat collecting money. The woman who worked in the cafe in our block of flats was having twins. DD was concerned that she wouldn't have enough money so got 45 baht together (about 12p) and presented it to her.

rupert1 · 21/01/2011 08:33

Your DD is lovely, but as for you just bag the rubbish up first don't just scape your dirty plates in there or whatever other filth your putting in there and Hey presto when your bin is emptied the inside will be perfectly clean, PS do check your dirty laundry basket it sounds as though the way you live you need a laundry basket cleaner.

brightlightsandpromises · 21/01/2011 09:37

OMFG - i cannot believe some of the idiots postors on her. I posted to illustrate how cute and lovely my DD is. We are not skint to the point that we can't pay the bin cleaner, if you had READ my OP you would have seen that i SAID that i wasn't sure if i had any money in the house as i wasnt expecting him to call. I don't always have money in my purse because i use cards most of the time. (bit like the queen see, i dont carry cash!). It was the SENTIMENT of my DD wanting to help out that i was trying to portray. Christ.

And as for you rupert, you need to read my posts, i do bag up my rubbish, but sometimes the bags break etc, i pay TWO POUNDS FIFTY for someone to clean my bin because i can't be arsed to do it myself. You dont know anything about how i live so i would politely ask you to fuck right off Angry

Sorry.
It was actually your use of the word 'bestest' that got to me.

BoattoBolivia · 21/01/2011 11:12

I would love a bin cleaner, especially in the summer! We are on fortnightly collections, I bag ALL my rubbish, I put put stuff in the bin ASAP BUT all summer, it is crawling with maggots after the 1 st week, never mind by the time it gets emptied! All over the lid and bags. The wheelies bins are big and in the front garden, under my dd's bedroom window, so each fortnight, after they've been emptied, I trail. In and out of the house with buckets of boiling water and soap. No point in waiting for dh to get home to do it as his car is then in the way!! Anyway, I think it is better to get the bin off the pavement ASAP, so that it's not in the way.
And yes op, your dd sounds VERY sweet.

monkeyflippers · 21/01/2011 12:57

You're complaining about a word!? Get a life

OP - your daughter sounds very sweet!

PinkElephant73 · 21/01/2011 13:07

OP - cute DD.

to those with maggoty bins in summer, just get a tin of fly spray and spray it around the top of the bin.

i have tried and failed to avoid maggots, but due to our local bin collection arrangements we seem to be stuck with them. good if you are into fishing I suppose!

stleger · 21/01/2011 13:13

I think she sounds like a lovely girl. I used to have bin cleaners, until the council outsourced collections, different companies come on different days and their business collapsed Sad. But they were enterprising men, and now they have a new set up as mobile dog bathers Grin.

brightlightsandpromises · 21/01/2011 13:43

bins/dogs - only a slight difference Grin

I have a dog, and he is the bestest doggie in the whole worldy

This thread sums up perfectly a lot of MN'ers innate need to find some way of sticking their beak into an OP's business and have a jolly good slag-off.
Who gives a fuckity fuck if OP has her bin cleaned once a month, or whether she uses the word 'bestest'.
Some of you (especially YOU) need to seriously get out more.

PS OP your daughter sounds blimming lovely

brightlightsandpromises · 21/01/2011 14:38

Thankyou dickie!
