She woke up on Tuesday with a very sore throat and hot all over...she's 6.

For two days (Tues and Wed) she lay on the sofa, slept very badly at night due to hrer throat...she's had the shivers and was generally very weak.

Today she woke up and seems better...but her throat still hurts...she is still white as a sheet with dark circles under her eyes..so I decided to send her tomorrow after decent rest.

DH is all Hmm because she's cheered up...she's not exactly partying though and I feel like I would worry about her in school with a sore throat...I thought tomorrow would be better....AIBU?

Dd1 has gone back to school today after having high temp, cough ect, i waited for her to have a full nights sleep (without coughing) before sending her back. Dd2 is still home, this is the first morning she hasn't had a high temp, i wont be sending her back until monday. If you send them back too early they will only pick something else up (low immune system).

YANBU I always think if you send them back too early it can only make things worse.

Children sometimes think they can run before they can run, they try doing normal things then the day after they are worn out again.

Nothing wrong with just making sure she is better Grin

walk before run Blush

mommmmyof2 · 20/01/2011 10:52

no other way around lol wow whats wrong with me!!

Alikersh · 20/01/2011 10:54

YANBU, keep her off till monday - no point in risking her either catching something else or having to go pick her up half way through the day because she's not well enough.

coffeecoffeecoffee · 20/01/2011 10:56

Agree with Marne. Send her back in too early and she'll only get something else.

mollymole · 20/01/2011 11:01

you know your own child - as she is so young i would not send her back until monday - it is so easy to pick up another virus when one is still low - what happened with your DH as a child is totally irrelevant

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 20/01/2011 11:17

YANBU - we have also had a DC 'pinged-back' Grin when we sent him back mostly recovered

WimpleOfTheBallet · 20/01/2011 11:45

Hetty...DDs hair is as bad as ever sadly. I tried not brushing it but it still matts and she still wont let me comb it with anything...not fingers or comb or brush.

Chipping....he's done middling...not quite park bench and not quite Park Lane! Grin

yadnbu my dh is like this, gets really annoyed if i keep off dd8 and she has a great attendance record.
Found out recently that mil never fussed about anything resulting in a few nr misses and ticking off from drs about leaving things untreated, she was funny about me keeping her off school next thursday when i have my c section as well,i told her shed e having the next day as well so there Grin

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/01/2011 13:48

i would have kept off today and tbh possibly tomorrow as well

so fighting fit for monday

you can always do some reading/simple maths if you feel the need

emmie31 · 20/01/2011 14:03

my little boy is off today, he's looking better and starting to play with toys but i'm keeping him off tomorrow, always best to recover properly or it drags the illness out!

StayingDavidTennantsGirl · 20/01/2011 15:39

I've got something similar to your dd, Wimple - temperature, aches, pains, headache and a cough - I can hardly get round the house to do the essentials, and I think you are absolutely right to keep your dd off school until she is fit.

If she were going to be missing a GCSE exam, it might be different, but missing a few days of school at age 6 is not going to change her educational future. In fact, she won't learn effectively if she is ill, so better to stay home until she is well.
