I purchased a toy box online a couple of weeks ago , last week I noticed paint chipped off and a dent while assembling it so I emailed and called to arrange a replacement.

Although pleasant the man I spoke to has emailed me since asking me to email a picture of the damage! I know people have slated Mothercare on here but when I ordered a cot that was damaged they sent out a replacement straight away no questions.

Anyone else had to send pictures of damage before ?!

I don't think it's strange. They want to make sure that it actually is damaged before they do anything I suppose.

Yes, I was asked to email photos of a pushchair that had broken while under guarantee. I thought it was a very efficient way to do it, they saw the photos, agreed it was covered under the guarantee and organised a courier to collect.

If you send photos now they won't be able to pretend it was damaged in transit and wriggle out of a replacement.

Sounds good to me, is there a reason you don't want to do it ?

I emailed the picture , I was just a bit concerned that they didn't think I was genuine. Although what would I gain , I only want a replacement not a refund.

have you posted the old box back?

Maybe they want to make sure that it doesn't happen again. If I was them I would want to check the damage and how it was caused. Could be good customer service, not bad.

I once purchased a wardrobe online and when the door arrived it was damaged - it looked as though it had been dropped. I was asked to e-mail photographs so the company could claim from the courier firm they'd used. A replacement door arrived the following day (in response to my initial contact - I'd not sent the photos until later in the day).
