in a hotel, and you take your pre-adolescent children with you, you should not allow them to rampage noisily all over the hotel until after 2am while you (presumably) spend the night in the bar?

YANBU obviously. Bar or no bar.

mutznutz · 16/01/2011 14:45

Yep doesn't matter how the parents are spending their time...they should look after their kids and make sure they're not being a nuisance.

charliesmommy · 16/01/2011 14:47

Another reason for child free weddings. Grin

southeastastra · 16/01/2011 14:48

it's fun to rampage at events when you're a kid!

mutznutz · 16/01/2011 14:50

At 2am?

compo · 16/01/2011 14:51

Why didn't you complain to the reception staff?

sleeplessinWatford · 16/01/2011 14:53

I have no problem with them enjoying exploring the long corridors up till about 10pm, most kids would love it, but screeching, shouting and thundering along every floor at 2.00 am is unacceptable.

I was enjoying a weekend break with my extended family, and none of us got much sleep - it spoilt our stay TBH.

I told the manager, who agreed it wasn't on, but said there wasn't much they could do.

YANBU. Unless it's my child and I am enjoying a much-needed evening out!!!!

RantyMcRantpants · 16/01/2011 15:06

What do you mean there is nothing much he can do? He can go to the parents and ask them to control their children or be removed from the hotel. I used to work in a hotel and have done something similar and when I got a mouthful of abuse I went to his manager and explained and the manager had words with him. The children were put to bed straight away.

IMHO the manager should have done something and was taking the cowards way out. Was the hotel part of a chain? If so it might be worth writing to head office.

compo · 16/01/2011 15:07

Were you trying to sleep? Crap hotel manager!

Takeresponsibility · 16/01/2011 15:09

Woah Ranty - it depends when the OP complained to the manager, if she complained at breakfast that none of them got much sleep last night because....then there isn't much the manager can do unless he is a time-lord.

If however her refused to act at the time then the OP should complain to head office.

southeastastra · 16/01/2011 15:10

i suppose running around the corridors is a little off, though you are in watford where we're notorious for letting our kids run riot Wink

RunawayFishWife · 16/01/2011 15:13

YANBU, some people should not be allowed to have children

southeastastra · 16/01/2011 17:29

haha harsh
