to be pissed off with my local takeaway

I use just-eat.co.uk to order takeaways and today they are offering 20% off.
I placed the order and waited for 1 hr 20 mins before I called the restaurant. They had apparently tried to call me to tell me my order had been cancelled as they didn't know anything about the offer and said I hadn't paid enough.
The guy on the phone was very rude and said "20% off - I don't think so, it's not worth us driving out there for that"
I spoke to Just-eat and they were very apologetic and said they had left messages for the restaurant to call them so they could tell them about the offer but they didn't return just-eat's calls.
Anyway they called the restaurant and it is all sorted now and will delivering within 30 mins.
Just venting

The guy from the restaurant called back and spoke to DP and apologised but I am still a bit annoyed and don't think I'll order from them again.

Any chance you missed the call?

If they just ignored the order uanbu though.... you had still paid so an effort to contact you should have been made.

Hazeleyedbaby · 15/01/2011 23:12

YANBU but I would be a bit worried to eat the food if they were so rude!

And no I wouldn't order from them again!

I work at a take away and we are really struggling atm because of the rsie in VAT and fuel. Plus it's always quiter just after x-mas, so you can understand the take away being annoyed that Just-Eat has lowered their prices without prior approval.

The one I work in has had to put the drivers wages up due to rising fuel costs, which means delivery charges have gone up.

groak · 15/01/2011 23:15

just out of curiosity, what did you order an dhow much was it / should have been?

wayoftheworld · 15/01/2011 23:16

I would be vivid as well- it's called customer service. Dont give them another chance to serve you. If their business fails they might finally learn .....

I do hope your dinner was nice enough though....

itsohsoquiet · 15/01/2011 23:24

It hasn't arrived yet but should be here any minute.
Apparently the restaurant still gets the full amount and just-eat pays them the 20% but he didn't realise that
My order was £20 so got £4 off their ironically named "happy days" meal

you would be vivid? what, like, a peacock in rave? or in a neon waistcoat?

Now, itsohsoquiet, be hones, were you trying to save £1.20 in a chnese sweet an d sour crispy batter balls with fried rice?

itsohsoquiet · 15/01/2011 23:26

DooinMeCleanin I understand that but I only heard of them because of just-eat so they wouldn't have had my custom at all if it wasn't for them.
They could have also called just-eat to verify what I said and find out the facts instead of being rude as I now won't go back again.

Yes they could have and should have called Just-Eat, but if it's anything like the one I work in they probably had a queue of 6-10 people at the till, the phone ringing it's arse off and 20 orders waiting to sorted out for the drivers and just one person trying to manage all of this.

I can understand your point, I agree that good manners cost nothing, but I always have sympathy for take-away staff, since working in one.

You get eejits calling you up pissed because they ordered the wrong thing and it's your fault despite the fact you explained three times they were slurring that much you could not understand what they were saying and you repeated their order back to them three times. I hate having to do cover on a Sat night. It's mayhem.
